A fantastic meal at ⭐️⭐️ @aimoenadia Aimo e Nadia in Milan. A restaurant that I've been trying to visit for months and months but with one thing or another either me or them have had to cancel. So I was very happy to finally visit and it was well worth the wait.
Tasting menu only but with regular clientele on the tables next to me ordering there own A La Carte favourite dishes. That's always a good sign. The star dish for me was actually a salad that reminded me of the 31,41,51 salad at ⭐️⭐️⭐️Piazza Duomo in Alba. This salad however had a marinated egg yolk hiding in the bottom, which
when discovered, sent this dish into the
stratosphere. Incredible.

Lunch at @28posti in Milan. It is easy to spot the DNA of Noma here in Marco Ambrosino’s @ambrosino cooking and even plating, with a whole lot of fermenting going on, which is no bad thing. A dish of pasta with fermented pasta water for example was a revelation. It just reinforces the global influence that that restaurant has had throughout the culinary world.
There is a multi course tasting menu on offer here and you can choose from 5 or 8 dishes. With some of the courses themselves composed of two, three or even four plates, I thought at €80 it was pretty good value. And at €45 for 7 very generous glasses of natural wine I left feeling that I had indeed got a bargain. This made the bill that evening at ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Da Vittorio all the more painful.
Lovely food, lovely service, definitely recommended if you are in Milan.

Lunch at @claudebosi1 Oyster Bar. While briefly back in the UK to get my first vaccination jab in May, I tried of course to cram in as much food as possible during my 48 hours in that London.
I happily managed to get a seat outside the Bibendum building to enjoy the amazing crab quiche that me and Michael Price enjoyed so much many months ago. With a flight departing from Gatwick at 3.50pm I had emailed ahead to say that I would only want a couple of dishes and needed to be away by 1pm at the latest. This request was duly ignored as the kitchen very generously sent out the unordered octopus dish as a ‘must try’ speciality of the house. The wine flowed, the sun shone, more dishes were ordered and a flight was missed. I’m ok with that. That quiche is incredible.

A spur of the moment walk-in at @_littlesocial Little Social who have pretty much taken over Pollen Street. Jason Atherton was there schmoozing the tables and told me they expected to do 200 covers that day. With Pollen Street Social closed, all the staff were focusing on banging out big covers from it’s little sister across the street. Blessed with a bit of sunshine it was encouraging to see a busy restaurant finally operational. The food was great to. Of course both @pollen_street_social and Little Social are back open now and I’d encourage you to visit both.

My last meal in Stockholm back in April was at ⭐️ Ekstedt. The deal here is that everything is cooked over fire one way or another. Either in the wood fired oven or over the grill or using the flambadou to drop flaming droplets of animal fat directly onto the ingredient. A little bit of theatrical fun if you sit at the kitchen counter.

Dinner at ⭐️ Etoile @etoilerestaurang in Stockholm. This was a recommendation from Frantzén head chef Charlie Benitez as I was dining there a few days previously. One to keep an eye on I think. A very young team showcase their experiences through food, with an emphasis on Asia and Africa. Some recognisable presentations I thought but maybe I’ve just eaten in too many restaurants. Certainly a tasty meal and somewhere I’ll go back to to see how they progress.
