Even better when he picks your wine. It was a shame I was dining solo this time as I think a lot of the dishes here are best shared, from previous experiences. But it was still a fantastic lunch and I can’t wait to go back. It’s predominantly a locals place and tough to book normally but if you bag a seat you’ll be welcomed with socially distanced open arms. I think Sacha is more hosting than cooking these days and it was a real treat to have one of the chefs Lucho appear from the kitchen and offer to show me his favourite local bar after service. Chefs.....we always know the best bars 😬

After Barcelona the next stop on this three week three city tour was Madrid and the first meal was very special indeed, a private dinner at a restaurant that was an absolute highlight of 2020 for me so I was incredibly happy to go back.
Chef Jorge Muñoz very kindly offered to cook for twelve of us privately.
The meal was stunning. Purely ingredient focused and packing every possible ounce of flavour into each dish. Mind blowing really when you consider that Jorge works that kitchen on his own.
The croquetta is the best I’ve ever tasted and the river lamprey, a fish that I’ve never tried before, was a revelation.
Together with Diver XO this is now firmly at the top of my list of restaurants to book when planning a trip to Madrid.
@jorgemunozchef has since moved on but I am very excited for his next project.

Lunch at ⭐️ Alkimia in Barcelona. One of my favourite places to eat in the city. It was an interesting meal this time as I was enjoying the tasting menu, but as I was eating with my friend Alejandro who pretty much lives in this restaurant, he was ordering ‘off menu’ A La Carte. So I had the best of both worlds being able to taste both the intricate plates and also the more traditional side of Jordi Vila’s cooking. It was a fantastic lunch but I would say that having had more than a couple of visits here where I can still remember some of the dishes in the tasting menu, this time I was a little envious of what my companions were eating (although they very generously let me taste). Still one of my must visit restaurants when in Barcelona.

Lunch at ⭐️⭐️ @hermanostorres Cocina Hermanos Torres a couple of weeks ago. This was my second visit here and much like my first it was excellent. The one thing I love about the place is the dining room which is spectacular (as is the food) A large open central kitchen surrounded on all sides by diners. It could be something out of a set for Final Table or any other US tv cooking competition show.

Another stunning lunch back in May at @restaurant_joro in Sheffield. It was so nice to be finally catching up with friends and seeing restaurants springing to life back then and happy that now in October business seems to be finally back to normal. @cheflukefrench and the team's cooking and service standards were as good as ever and I am still
shocked that they have yet to be awarded a Michelin star but hopefully next time around as it's fully deserved IMO. Thanks to Luke and the team for taking such good care of us as ever. See you again soon I hope and best wishes for the exciting
