A final meal for me last March at ⭐️ Mãos @bluemountainschool in London before it sadly closed it’s doors (now reopened as the excellent Cycene). A truly unique restaurant in London and probably my favourite, or at least one of them. I’m excited to see what Edoardo will bring to the Singapore dining scene this year and wish him and the team my best wishes. I’ll be jumping on a plane to dine at his new venture as soon as it opens.

Another fantastic evening at @maos.bms Maos back in May when restaurants were finally allowed to open their doors to indoor dining. I love this place. On my last visit in May 2020 the food was great as it always is, but of course the ambiance suffered due to the loss of the original communal dining table and the lack of freedom to wander around during the meal and chat to @edoardopellicano Edoardo and
the team or even eat courses in the kitchen. This time you couldn't keep me out of the kitchen and they have configured the dining room to still feel like a communal dining experience even though different groups are of course sat at different tables. It was a much more relaxed and enjoyable evening. Can't wait to go back.

After the Faroe Islands I was heading for World’s 50 Best Restaurants Number 1 Mirazur in France but with a quick one night stop over in London so I got to pay another visit to one of my favourite spots in London, @maos.bms
I was interested to see how chef Eduardo @edoardopellicano had dealt with the restrictions put in place due to Covid as this was formerly a single communal table where the guests were encouraged to interact with each other and also where one could wander around into the kitchen and chat to the chefs, even eat courses in the kitchen, or into the wine room. Quite the opposite now applies of course with the room divided into several tables observing social distancing. In an effort to maintain that interaction with the kitchen they have built a small counter on one side of the room where Eduardo finishes a lot of the dishes over a Japanese style grill. So it’s a shame to lose what I felt, having visited several times, was a great concept in the communal table and the general vibe of being at someone’s house at a dinner party rather than at just another restaurant.
However, the food still stands out and it’s clear to me that Eduardo and his team are very much included in the group of kitchens and chefs that have been using their time during lockdown wisely and to great effect to develop and hone their menus. The result is a menu of 12 or so dishes that I will be rushing back for.
Highly recommended

Another visit a few weeks ago to @edoardopellicano ‘s communal table restaurant @maos.bluemountainschool Mãos in Shoreditch, London. The meal starts off in the kitchen where drinks and snacks are served before moving through to the dining room which has an adjoining wine room. Described as a ‘kitchen, table and wine room’, they serve a 17 course tasting menu to the 16 guests sat at the communal table. The meal starts off in the kitchen where drinks and snacks are served before moving through to the dining room which has an adjoining wine room. Before the meal started we were told that the majority of the courses could be eaten anywhere we liked, meaning that we were encouraged to get up and wander around if we wanted. We could go and chat about the wine in the wine room or, as I did, enjoy several courses standing in the kitchen and chatting to the chefs. This made for a very relaxed and fun evening.
The cooking here is exceptional and it is well worth a visit. I wish the team my best wishes and hope that they are keeping safe and will be up and running again soon

Fantastic finish to the OAD week in London.
The best dinner of them all in the new venue of Nuno Mendes, the restaurant Mãos on Redchurch Street.
Almost a supper club, one table for 14 with a connected wine room and kitchen, the team around Nuno produces a stunning product driven menu with Japanese and Portuguese influences.
This will be most certainly one, if not the most important restaurant opening of the year in London.
I only can say GO THERE, befriend the team so you can book ahead... More
