Another visit to our neighbourhood restaurant now we’ve moved to Birmingham, and surely Birmingham’s next candidate for a Michelin star, @restaurantfolium
Opened in November 2017, the restaurant is co-owned and run by Ben Tesh and partner, @lcuyhx Lucy Hanlon. They aim to bring an innovative and exciting food style to Birmingham, within a relaxed space with personal, informed service.
The cooking style is simple, with clean flavours using the highest quality of ingredients from sustainable and ethical suppliers. Plates are simple in appearance but full of flavour and respect for the best produce from Britain. Highly recommended and one of our absolute favourites in Birmingham.

Our next stop in Birmingham was to visit @kraytreadwell , Michelin’s former young chef of the year and a Great British Menu finalist at his restaurant @670grams in the old custard factory development, named of his prematurely born baby’s weight at birth I believe.
With just me and Hayley sat at the small kitchen counter it was a fun evening chatting to Kray about his plans. The food is great with fun and creative nods to Kray’s (and mine) home city of Birmingham.
This visit was before his recent expansion through to the site next door which will hopefully give him a lot more space to be even more creative. Highly recommended if you find yourself in Brum.

Next stop on my best of Copenhagen mini tour was to ⭐️⭐️ @restaurantalchemist , and to my mind the best restaurant on the planet at the moment. Having visited around 10 times now it was great to experience it with 6 newbies. As @lykke_alchemist commented, it was like me and @hayhay_hailz were the calm and relaxed parents watching their 6 very excited kids running around on Christmas morning. 8 hours of incredible food, service and exceptional wines (🤯), experienced from the best seats in the house. @rasmusmunkalchemist is a true genius and as Ferran Adria said to the audience at the Gastronomika conference in Spain the other week, “the future of gastronomy”. High praise from arguably the most influential chef (certainly to our current generation of cooks) in the World. But I couldn’t agree more. Thanks again Rasmus for another exceptional and thought provoking meal.🙏❤️
