Wonderful seasonal flavors, of course. Of particular note is the hassun, presented so beautifully as two mandarin ducks swimming in water. The beef dish at the end with seasonal sansho flowers was amazing.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Kyo-ryori dinner at Imoto at Imoto
Surprised to find such a nice place for kyo-ryori in Fukuoka. The flavors were so subtle and elegant, so clean. A lot more vegetables than your average kaiseki meal. So happy.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Anniversary dinner at Caprice at Caprice
Very happy to return to Caprice for our anniversary, less than 2 weeks after our last meal here. Chef served up 2 dishes we enjoyed at our wedding dinner but updated both of them.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Dim sum menagerie at The Eight at The Eight
so happy to be back here for dim sum. The flavors and ingredients are top notch, but I love their presentation - how they make them into animal shapes. That takes a lot of effort!

- Peter Chang added a new meal Birthday dinner at The 8 at The Eight
First time back here for dinner in 4 years. Chef Albert Au created a menu for the two of us, and this was fantastic. The execution on quite a few of the dishes were pretty amazing, which is why they've had 3 stars for more than 10 years.

After many years of visiting this place, one of my favorite restaurants in Hong Kong, now comes a meal where I felt the restaurant deserves to be promoted to 3 stars.
Not only are the flavors beautiful, but the presentation has now gone up a level. Some of the dishes are quite stunning.

- Peter Chang added a new meal First dinner at Baan Tepa at Baan Tepa
First visit to this pretty, luxurious home which was turned into a "culinary space" with a garden out back. I guess one can see some shade of Dan Barber here.
Reasonably tasting dinner, with the squid ink noodles being a real standout dish, as was the khao mok. Hated the prawn fat that came with the river prawn and did not finish the dish.

So happy to be back at Baan Ice, and this new branch serves almost the same dishes as anywhere else. Simple and honest food. You don't need to go to Sorn. Just come here.
