Our next stop on my best of Spain tour was to @theworlds50best number 1 restaurant @disfrutarbcn . Awarded the top spot just last week it is clear to see why they have reached this peak having also recently been awarded a third Michelin star. The groundbreaking food, always pushing forward with inventive but most importantly delicious ideas, together with the friendly and welcoming service style makes this one of my favourite restaurants on the planet and having watched it evolve over many visits over many years I am overjoyed to see them enjoy this success.
I arranged a surprise for my guests to eat not in the main restaurant but at our own ‘living table’ downstairs through the wine cellar and into the restaurant’s test kitchen. This was truly a highlight of the tour and I can’t wait to revisit next May on my best of Spain tour 2025

Opening day at @thecocochine , after a two week soft opening period. I fell in love with this place pretty much as soon as I walked in. The attention to detail is all around you and it exudes luxury but most of all it says ´you are home and we are going to look after you´.
Many have been waiting for chef @larry_jayasekara to open his own place, and with the help of the Hamiltons Gallery owner Tim Jefferies the moment has arrived.
No tasting menus here, just a skilfully prepared A La Carte offering that will change regularly, daily even. A beautiful dining room is on the ground floor, and for me there is a 7 seater counter on the first floor that looks into the 920sq ft purpose built kitchen.
Ingredients are of exceptional quality and come from all over. I ate Otoro from Tokyo, Chicken from France and many ingredients from financier Ian Wace´s Rowler Estate, and the thing that attracts me the most is that I am fairly sure I could come to this (walk-in) kitchen counter every day next week and not eat the same dish twice.
I´ll be back….alot I think.

I have been wanting to visit @lechampsauvage Le Champignon Sauvage for years so I was chuffed to bits to finally be able to last year. 35 years open, and I’m pretty sure they have held a Michelin star for most of that time. It was a pleasure to meet David who in 35 years has never missed a service and his wife who was taking care of the dining room with warm and friendly charm. What an example to the industry. The alumni of this restaurant have quite a few stars of their own now. I do hope that they continue to prosper. Chatting to David in the kitchen it was clear that recruitment is a challenge at the moment (just David and one other chef cooking), that I hope they can overcome. Highly recommended if you in Cheltenham or near by.
