Another restaurant that I will revisit soon is The Alchemist in Copenhagen. I have been a few times now and it is really interesting to see this incredible talent evolving over time. Especially someone like Rasmus Munk whose food is so inventive and emotive. The meal I have posted here I had two years ago and going back fairly recently one can still see a lot of the same dishes but in their more focused, refined and clearer form. A lot of the dishes are intended to provoke thought and tell a story and send a message to the diner. The Alchemist will reopen soon in a new premises and like new Frantzen, I have very high hopes indeed. Less

A little trip to Modena back in December when restaurants in Italy were briefly allowed to open. Osteria Francescana has been on my bucket list for quite a few years now so I was glad to finally get a table. Excellent food as expected, served in quite a sombre dining room which was a surprise from such a playful and exuberant chef. My full thoughts are on my FB page. Certainly worth the trip.

This is Frantzen in its old iteration at the previous cramped premises and it is interesting to look back two years and see how far they have come. I wonder did they think that just two years later they would be open in an incredibly spacious and luxurious new property and by one of only a very few resataurants in the world to be awarded a 3* michelin straight away. You can see there are a couple of dishes that still remain years later on the new Frantzen menu. French toast and a dessert looks familiar in preparation. Less

A very nice lunch at ⭐️⭐️ @restaurant_facil in the @themandalahotel back in October. Not much to say really. It was very nice, crowd pleasing, Michelin-star-restaurant-in-a-hotel type food, if that’s a genre 🤷🏼♂️. Looking around the room I was certainly the only non business lunch courting a client or lady of a certain age who lunches. Very solid cooking. I would certainly recommend it in a city like Berlin where there maybe isn’t so much in the way of choice for a ‘fine-dining’ meal. Well actually I’d recommend it in any city. It was very good 👍🏻

Tim Raue was the subject of a Netflix Chef’s Table episode a few years ago which went into some detail about his ascension from street hoodlum to renowned two star chef.
The food here has strong Asian influences and uses top notch ingredients. Langoustines, caviar and Alba white truffles are in abundance. I enjoyed the meal very much and would certainly head back the next time I’m in Berlin.

Just across the border from Hisa Franko back in Italy in the region of Collio, my next stop was to one Michelin star restaurant @largineavenco L’Argine a Vencò where chef @antoniaklugmann Antonia Klugmann focuses on local seasonal produce with an emphasis on as little waste as possible.
Antonia’s work draws inspiration from the identity of local products, without discarding external influences. L’Argine a Vencò is a small restaurant in the countryside. The territory, seasons and vegetables are the backbone of her cuisine. The beauty of the surrounding landscape, her vegetable garden and the vineyards are her biggest source of inspiration.
A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Recommended.
