- Jason Wang added a new meal Dinner at QUÁN CẨM - Bún Bò Huế - 45 Lê Lợi, Huế at Cam Store
One last bowl of Bun Bo Hue before departing Hue. This is what everyone here eats for breakfast. By 7am, it was already completely packed inside Quan Cam. Although they serve soup out of a huge cauldron, it's not bottomless. They close whenever they sell out and they sell out every single day. ?

The birth place of banh mi, a Vietnamese French baguette, is in the coastal ancient town of Hoi An. Many have claimed, including Anthony Bourdain, that the best banh mi in Vietnam is found at Bánh Mì Phượng. There is a total of 12 choices on the menu and a constant stream of customers. Everyone has bought into the hype, us included. This was the first banh mi we had in Vietnam and it tasted better than ones we’ve had anywhere else in the world. The bread itself is crispy on the outside, and soft and airy inside. The success of the shop is a result of Madam Phuong getting up at 3am every morning and preparing all the ingredients with her staff (who are her relatives). She sells around 2,000 loafs of bread every day. And all this costs only $1.44 USD for a single sandwich.

Late night stop for Cơm Gà (Vietnamese-style chicken rice) in Hoi An, which happens to be the place that this dish was invented. There are several shops in town that specialize in chicken rice, but we ended up at Cơm Gà An Hiền, a street stall with 0 tourists. It's literally set downstairs in the entrance of an apartment building with every single table and seat full of locals chowing down. Here at An Hien, yellow turmeric-yellow rice is topped with shredded chicken, tangy thin onion slices, Vietnamese mint, and black pepper. It’s served with a bowl of intensely flavored chicken broth with chrysanthemum leaves.

Ms Vy's restaurant: Morning Glory. The name 'Morning Glory' comes from the most common and popular vegetable side dish served with almost every Vietnamese family meal. It's a dish enjoyed by both city and country folks alike. Overall, they serve classic Vietnamese and Hoi An specialty dishes in the center of Old Town. There's an open kitchen so guests can see first-hand how the food is made. We ordered a few local dishes like Cao Lau, My Quang, and Banh Bao Banh Vac. Everything was excellent!
::::
Ms Vy is a culinary pioneer in Hoi An with 30 years of experience in the kitchen; she respects the recipes handed down by her grandmother and preserves the authentic flavors. She now has 8 restaurants in Hoi An and 1 in Melbourne.

Madam Khanh of Hoi An, the undisputed Banh Mi Queen. For us, this spot was our favorite for bánh mì in Vietnam. There’s just one option. You go up and they serve you a sandwich loaded with all kinds of toppings. Everything tasted just perfect, the exact way it should taste. It all started with a milk shortage in the 1940s, which led to an enterprising bartender (Mr. Nguyen Giang) of the city's Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel to come up with alternatives. Hence, cà phê trúng (Vietnamese egg coffee) was born in 1946 as the barman opened his own shop. Egg coffee is now served everywhere in Hanoi, but the original is found right here at Giang Cafe.
::::
The creation consists of chicken egg yolk, Vietnamese coffee powder, sweetened condensed milk, butter and cheese. The coffee is brewed in a small cup with a filter before the addition of a well-whisked mixture of the yolk and other ingredients. We tried both the hot and cold versions and egg beer. They're insanely delicious and addicting!

The specialty kebab is made with ground lamb and tail fat that are kneaded together with garlic, onion, paprika, and hot red pepper flakes, giving it a deep red color and a spicy flavor. The meat is then placed around large and flat metal skewers, and then grilled. Once it's done, the grilled meat is served on a platter with salad or stuffed into pita bread. A very popular local spot to have Adana kebab is at Cigerci Mahmut. Do as the locals do and you won’t be disappointed. This place was delicious and the perfect stop before we hit the road to our next stop in Turkey, the magical region of Cappadocia.
