Late night stop for Cơm Gà (Vietnamese-style chicken rice) in Hoi An, which happens to be the place that this dish was invented. There are several shops in town that specialize in chicken rice, but we ended up at Cơm Gà An Hiền, a street stall with 0 tourists. It's literally set downstairs in the entrance of an apartment building with every single table and seat full of locals chowing down. Here at An Hien, yellow turmeric-yellow rice is topped with shredded chicken, tangy thin onion slices, Vietnamese mint, and black pepper. It’s served with a bowl of intensely flavored chicken broth with chrysanthemum leaves.
