Roadtrips in Kyoto are well worth it especially if it's for an incredible restaurant! As we drove along the winding paths out of Kyoto city, we passed through mountains, rivers, and forests. Our first stop is Hirasansou (比良山荘), a famous ryokan restaurant located in the Kuzukawa Valley countryside of Shiga. It's our second time here as we absolutely loved our experience back in September 2015. The simple and rustic inn spans three generations, run currently by Ito Takeji - grandson of the original owner - and his wife Yukiko. The meal is composed of ingredients foraged and caught in the surrounding areas. During the winter season, they have the absolute best black bear and wild boar hotpot. This was yet another life-changing meal!
