Joshua Skenes’ latest act after handing over the reigns at Saison is Angler San Francisco, which opened earlier this year. In a short time, it’s already been named the Best New Restaurant by Esquire and earned a Michelin Star. We’re really happy to see Angler come to life as Saison was our favorite place to eat in the US under Skenes. Now we get a more casual version where food is still the focus and everything is cooked over fire with the 32-foot long hearth. In Josh’s own words – “Saison typically took more labor for each item and costs much more. I just wanted a restaurant where I could go and get great products simply prepared and have a great time doing so, without any BS. That is Angler."

The dishes at Angler are served family-style. As we expected, everything tasted refined and delicious. It’s no doubt that Angler will be a go-to spot whenever we’re back in the SF Bay Area.
