Absolutely loved our meal at Azura (עזורה‎) in Jerusalem's Mahane Yehuda open-air market! It might've been our favorite meal in Israel. Azura serves traditional Middle Eastern food that is Turkish and Iraqi inspired and has been a family-run institution since 1952. Things are slow-cooked to perfection atop the kerosene burners. We were able to try almost everything on the menu from soups, salads, and specialty dishes. One of our favorite was an eggplant stuffed with cinnamon-scented minced beef and pine nuts. And everything was a hit! There were flavors that we've never had before and dishes we've never heard of - and we were moved by every bite. We could taste and feel the rich history and culture. One of the many reasons we love food so much, especially after experiencing a meal like this!
