If you don’t want to cook yourself, you can still get Yakiniku bento but we are back to the tricky product and packaging design. How to eat it hot (or at least warm) when the food needs to travel and reheating grilled meat or steak means 90% of the cases the meat ends up overcooked and no longer good? 🤔

Well, here came one of the Japanese greatest inventions from a long time ago, the self heated bento box. In Pic 3, the bento box has self heated function which you just need to either pull a string or poke a hole to activate. The heat generated will “steam” the meat and rice which is the most gentle way to reheat it without destroying the texture.

Pic 7-8 is another method. Jumbo’s signature beef rice (see #littlemeg_yakinikujumbo for the rice) arguably one of my favorite dishes in the world. Now it comes in a square box with two layers. Top is the grilled fillet cubes, bottom is the tea flavored rice. You only need to heat up the rice, and put the beef on top. Then! Beef is softened, beef fat melt on rice. Beef heaven is reached 😇

The first two pics are the two layered yakiniku bento with different preparations and cuts of wagyu. The hire katsu (deep fried fillet) in top left is my favorite to eat at Jumbo 😭😭😭. You also get grilled tongue and harami (outskirts) etc. You know @nn_cool_j is a real YAKINIKU master because the meat is grilled here. Not Shabu, not steamed, they are Yakiniku, through and through.
