- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at Shinois at ShinoiS
Another absurdly good meal at ShinoiS. Not sure what is left to say, but if this isn’t on your list, put it there. It’s going to be impossible to book very soon. Also of note, I dipped into the tea pairing alongside the alcohol. Outstanding.

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at ZURRIOLA at ZURRIOLA (スリオラ)
A few shots of an absolutely delicious menu at Zurriola. I certainly wasn’t expecting to find elegant, Basque-Japanese food on top of a department store in Tokyo, but by now I should know better. I have yet to try to find a kind of food and not be able to find it in this city, usually very well executed. For this one, lots of technique and smart flavors,... More

For this one, lots of technique and smart flavors, great service, and a deep Spanish wine list. A definite return for me. Less

The excellent sake line up at Hakkoku. And a couple of pieces of sushi. For those asking for more bottle shots :)

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at 晴山 at Japanese restaurant Seizan
A famous restaurant that really lived up to all the praise I’d heard over the years. Quietly confident, excellent technique, sublime flavors. I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend with regular counter seats; alas I wasn’t able to reserve my own for next time... a common problem at the top end of Japanese gastronomy. - Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at 末廣鮨 at Suehiro Zushi (末廣鮨)
Suehiro Sushi. Shimizu city, Shizuoka Prefecture. A long standing restaurant in a port town that gets first pick of a lot of good seafood, I had a feast of pristine ingredients from the 80+yr old head chef. Interestingly, it was almost all sashimi and cooked dishes, but I certainly wasn’t complaining. I regret not bringing a bigger appetite after... More

A crawl through Tokyo’s newest food hall, @toranomon_yokocho Despite being hidden in a glass tower, this lively space is a collection of outposts of many well-known restaurants. I went on Monday, so I couldn’t try Kirakutei or Birdland’s offshoots, but had a great roving dinner with wine from @andivietnamese, Spanish bites and sherry from Plancha Zurriola, and killer sausage tonkatsu and orange wine from @nao.tirpse Finished off with chocolate and cocktails at Mixology’s new bar, @mementomori_toranomon. Next time, the Thai and Chinese options are up. A serious new casual dining destination. I recommend getting there early, and a few spots allow reservations, which are quickly becoming essential. - Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at 成生 at Naruse
Naruse. Tempura perfection. In addition to being utterly delicious, watching the chef work was a masterclass in itself. Part 2.

Absolutely fantastic dinner at @abysserestaurant An all-seafood tasting menu in a spare, serene space. Perfect wine pairings, some quite esoteric, all well aged. Spotless service. Going on my “must” list.

Masterful, as always. With food this pared-down, there’s nowhere to hide.

Was craving a taste of home, and @soulfoodhouse (conveniently right in my neighborhood) hit the spot. Super friendly people, too. Thanks!
