Late second dinner at this Italian place. Wonderful flavours.
My second visit to @alterego.tokyo was just as good as the first. They’re doing delicious, creative food. @tokihiro_matsumoto seems to be having fun doing a nice pairing as well.
Super delicious meal from the incredibly nice people at @alterego.tokyo They did a great job playing with Italian and Japanese flavors and techniques to come up with a cuisine that’s really something special. I’ve always thought that Japanese and Italian cuisines have similar DNA, so to speak, and they did a great job proving the point. Wine pairings were largely natural, often eccentric, and quite well matched. I will absolutely return, and suggest you give it a try as well.

I thought the wagyu rice would be served as is, until they wiped out a bowl of ikura (salmon roe) and put them on the rice. These corn were so sweet, beef was super good with the fat cooked enough not to feel too overwhelming, and the rice, so soft and gooey (in a good way).

The ikura was there not just for pictures, it filled the gap of the missing savory note (better, the savory umami from the sea) of the whole rice. This was so so good everyone at the counter encored at least one bowl. I was too slow and no more left 😭😭😭. But I was so happy to have it nevertheless.
