One of the things I love about Tokyo is that there are so many amazing restaurants, places that in any other city would be hugely famous, but here they just do excellent work quietly. Shirato is one of those gems hidden in plain sight, right near the busy Roppongi crossing.
It’s an intimate counter, elegant but not fussy. The menu is twenty courses, most just a few bites, so you can really see their range and talent. The food is French with a strong Japanese sensibility and some Chinese flavors... More

Some highlights from a delicious meal at @roppongishirato77. The extended tasting menu was baseline French, but had strong Japanese and Chinese influences as well. A small, smart space and kind staff. It’s an amazing fact of Tokyo that restaurants this good can be hidden away with little fanfare.
