Smyth, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Chicago’s West Loop, is helmed by husband-and-wife chefs John Shields and Karen Urie Shields. After refining their craft at Charlie Trotter’s and Alinea, they gained acclaim at Town House in Virginia before returning to Chicago in 2016 to open Smyth. Named after Smyth County, Virginia, the restaurant reflects their culinary evolution, blending innovation with seasonal ingredients, some sourced from their own garden.

Why Smyth Chicago? ~ my fourth visit overall and second in 2021, however the first one was for the colab with @therestaurantmw , but my second visit in September (with amazing company of @max_vs_food & @rizqi ) showcased food flavors taken to a truly next level. Smyth Chicago 1st visit — very casual for a 2 Michelin star restaurant. Some interesting combinations but execution needs improvement. First half of the meal were cold dishes, not very suitable for early winter Chicago. @szsnyder_

Just a few of the many, many delicious courses at @smythchicago Chef @chefjohnshields and his whole team having something very special on their hands. We ended the night in the lounge, sipping vintage amari, and already plotting a return trio to Chicago.
