- Chef Oishi (pic 1) is very friendly and seems to have an unending supply of energy
- This is not about super refined flavors or technical execution. Be prepared for a fun time, luxury ingredients and lots of it!
- Can easily skip lunch before coming here
Favorites
- Black truffle and foie gras pie was an add-on and the thick cut of black truffle really made a difference. Not that aromatic but can really taste the underlying flavors (pic 3)
- Crab Rice has crab meat, fried crab croquettes, crab sauce all mixed together. Nice play with texture and a crab flavor bomb (pic 4) Less
It has been a long, long time since I drank Penfolds, let alone Grange. The 1992 was a well made wine, with Syrah having found its integration with age. Not the most straight forward to guess in a blind taste, but the menthol, black currant and dark plum characters sat atop a wall of new oak. I concluded that this was just too young to drink and perhaps in need of further mellowing. 1993 showed more oxidation and it was indeed not the most pristine bottle and the Cabernet characters were more dominant.... It has been a long, long time since I drank Penfolds, let alone Grange. The 1992 was a well made wine, with Syrah having found its integration with age. Not the most straight forward to guess in a blind taste, but the menthol, black currant and dark plum characters sat atop a wall of new oak. I concluded that this was just too young to drink and perhaps in need of further mellowing. 1993 showed more oxidation and it was indeed not the most pristine bottle and the Cabernet characters were more dominant. Palate showed a lot cleaner than the nose and the madeirisation kind of come and went. More stewed plum, dark cherry, spice and earth. Maybe could have blown off, but we drank everything a bit too quickly.

Ingredient driven place with a super energetic Chef who believes in hearty portions. Some dishes are umami loaded to the tilt.
The duck was pan fried in a small pan where barely fit one duck into, but he cooked it at high temperature, not one but two and he completely nailed it. Unbelievable.
Go there and hungry and enjoy.
There is also a very generous BYOB policy with a charge of ¥3000/bottle.
