July dinner at the always excellent @michi_crony. The new(ish) location is really lovely, and the food finds a great balance of flavor, technique, and creativity. For me, one of the more “international” tastes in Tokyo, in a very good way. And of course, The Bread. So good that it comes out on its own, not alongside another dish.

Crony has moved to a beautiful new space in Higashiazabu, a short walk from my house. They also somehow made the food even more delicious. I’ll be talking about that spinach/scallop dish for a while, and the Saba/sunchoke dish was one of the few times I ever enjoyed my nemesis ingredient (sunchoke). A big congrats to @michi_crony and team for an amazing second act. Can’t wait to come back.

Excellence at Crony. The strawberry/chocolate/foie desert will be in my memory for a long time. Very much looking forward to returning, and checking out their wine bar alter ego after hours. @michi_crony
