Fukamachi 深町 2nd visit — favorite this time was the awabi tempura served with its liver sauce. The surface of the awabi was slightly cut open so the texture was more tender and flavor more intense. Kisu and Uni were slightly overcooked but overall the quality was quite consistent. •

Day 1: 2010 As Covas Pinot Noir — a collaboration project between Raul Perez and Rodrigo Mendez, only 800 bottles made. A very elegant expression of PN at only 12.5% alc, the herbal and mineral notes almost resembles a Baden Spatburgunder, but with higher concentration. A rare find.

Day 1: 2010 As Covas Pinot Noir — a collaboration project between Raul Perez and Rodrigo Mendez, only 800 bottles made. A very elegant expression of PN at only 12.5% alc, the herbal and mineral notes almost resembles a Baden Spatburgunder, but with higher concentration. A rare find.
Day 2: the double portion wine pairing was definitely the way to go. Loved the “compare and contrast” wine vs sake pairings, all worked well with the dishes and a great way to explore local nihonshu.
