Pros: beautiful setting on one of the most remote islands in Japan; private outdoor onsen with breathtaking view of Mt Rishiri; delicious seafood meals; rooms are not luxurious but well appointed; best accommodation on Rebun Island
Cons: not easy to get to (2 hours flight and 2 hours ferry from Tokyo); only open in summer season; very limited sake/wine list
