First time back at Paris 1930 in quite a few years, and things changed drastically after Hideki Takayama took over in charge of the menu.
Curious that tea is part of almost every dish on the menu, and there were multiple "sensory experiences" involving sound and scents of tea... Difficult for my wife who is sensitive to caffeine at night.

Overall it is pretty well done, with abundant use of local produce other than a couple of key things like lobster and truffles.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Lunch at Beef Father at Beef Father / Daddy
Back here after quite a few years' absence. This was once my favorite place for beef noodle soup, and I still think they make the best ones in Taipei. Quality is there as long as price is no object.
However, prices were raised some years ago, and now one has to think twice whether the very premium bowls are justifiable in terms of their price. TWD... More

However, prices were raised some years ago, and now one has to think twice whether the very premium bowls are justifiable in terms of their price. TWD 5,000 or TWD 10,000 are nothing to sneeze at, even if you do get very, very delicious beef.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Lunch at 朧粵 Longyue at 朧粵 Longyue
First taste of this Cantonese restaurant that is getting some attention. Overall the food was fairly good, probably among the best in Taipei for this cuisine.
But the pricing is at similar levels as Hong Kong, which is expensive for Taipei.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Nice and relaxing dinner at T+T at T+T
Fun dinner at the 1-star serving tapas-style dishes where they reinterpret classic Taiwanese fare. Pretty tasty. Some room for improvement but a fun meal. Also some Singaporean influence here.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Kappo dinner at The Ukai at The Ukai
Back at the Ukai, this time trying the kappo side where not everything is cooked on the teppan. Still very tasty with dishes created from local and imported Japanese ingredients.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Teppanyaki dinner at The Ukai at The Ukai
A very good dinner at this Taipei outpost of the famed Japanese group. This dinner was on the teppanyaki side, with a good mix of premium Japanese and local ingredients.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Celebratory dinner at Ya Ge at Ya Ge
Big family celebratory dinner with a set menu. Finally trying this 1-star Cantonese restaurant inside the Mandarin Oriental, mostly because of wine service. Food was OK but pales in comparison to what's in Hong Kong.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Lunch at Lu Sang at Lu Sang
first time back to this old favorite of mine after a few years. Some of the dishes - the steamed pig's liver in particular - were a little disappointing. Overall, though, this is still a good place to eat.

- Peter Chang added a new meal First time at Taïrroir at Taïrroir
My first experience with this 2-star French by Kai Ho, a protégé of Julien Royer from Odette. It only took me 7 years after they opened.
Dishes and flavors inspired by chef's childhood memories of eating local Taiwanese fare. I must say I didn't quite get some of them. There were, of course, a couple of standout dishes... but not enough.

- Peter Chang added a new meal Disappointing lunch at Mipon at Mipon
First visit to this Taiwanese restaurant located inside a hotel. Honestly, the food is not that special... so I have no idea why Michelin gave them a star.
