A roast you can always count on. Aberdeen Angus rump and short rib, horseradish crème fraïche, beef fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, roasted honey vegetables, and the most amazing beef dripping gravy. Everything you need on one table. The confit potatoes here are phenomenal and it’s no surprise as these guys were one of the first to start serving them - super crispy layers of potato with a soft and fluffy centre. Their chicken liver and foie gras parfait with black truffle and toasted brioche was phenomenal. Probably one of the tastiest things you can start a meal with - incredibly smooth and creamy with a subtle sweetness hitting you at the end. For me though the absolute winner was that lemon curd tart. Go here and try it. It’s one of the best lemon tarts in town. That or their brown butter / honey tart.. #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

A beautiful dinner at The Jade Room in Tokyo. A restaurant led by Michelin-starred Tom Aikens that really makes the most of what Japan’s climate has to offer. It’s a menu led by produce and provenance first and foremost, driven by seasonality and diversity. Warm wood, dim lighting and unobstructed views over Tokyo Tower. An unmatched setting. The menu started with a few light bites and tartlets, all of which were meticulously plated and presented - such intricate work that over-delivered in terms of flavour. Really tasty - the sweetcorn and truffle tartlet was delicious. The scorched onion with bread miso, Hokkaido cheese and truffle was a great follow up dish. For me though, the star dish of the night was that Kyoto amadai with pumpkin and sake. The fish was a work of art - ultra crispy, flaky skin that shattered with the fork. The fish itself, fatty, oily and buttery soft - a melt in the mouth texture. First time trying it. Too good. It even surpassed the Hokkaido venison loin for me in terms of score. Washed this all back with a stunning red from @opusonewinery - a special wine for a special evening! Great dinner #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

Had to visit Sushi Hōseki whilst at Bulgari in Tokyo. It’s their 8-seat omakase restaurant led by 3-Michelin starred Kenji Gyoten from Sushi Gyoten in Fukuoka. In 2014 he was the youngest chef in Japan to receive 3 stars in the sushi category; and the dishes presented during the course here are nothing short of amazing. Each sitting starts with the shari being prepared in front of guests - it’s carefully folded with vinegar whilst the appetisers are prepared. The first nigiri courses are generous here. Two nigiris each of the very best akami, chutoro and otoro. What followed was a mix of dishes including more nigiri, sashimi, hand rolls, chawanmushi and small rice bowls. Nicely balanced vinegar in the rice and well tempered fish. The squid was sensational. Beautiful plating too. Was very lucky to enjoy a super rare sake this evening thanks to someone next to me who spotted it - a 2015 from Brain Damage Incorporated. Incredible bottle. Super smooth, fresh and easy on the palette. Never tried anything quite like it. The Bafun uni hand roll with this sake was probably one of my favourite pairings of this entire trip! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

Easily the most impressive selection of dry-aged Wagyu beef I’ve seen under one roof. Kitan Yakiniku in Osaka is run by Hiro-san, a wagyu master who specialises in ultra dry-aged Wagyu. As soon as you walk into the chefs counter here you’re met with this huge display of ultra-fine produce. Every cut of Wagyu imaginable, some of the best aged Maguro as well as seasonal truffles. The omakase starts with a bunch of appetiser courses to warm up the palette. Small delicious bites of raw + grilled, hot + cold dishes and an intro to the beef. It’s a great way to try the beef prepared in many different ways - different flavours, textures and temperatures. His sukiyaki was delicious, as was the Wagyu beef spring roll and his recreation of my layered crispy potato with Wagyu beef tartare! Such a cool surprise to see him serve that! After the bites, Hiro-san asks you to select the cuts you want to try. So many to choose from. It’s really preference but interesting to try something new - the tongue is delicious, but the picanha was my favourite. If you’re into beef, Kitan is a must. His Wagyu beef omakase is on ground floor, with the more casual Yakiniku restaurant just upstairs. Both are great but if you want something more informal where you grill yourself, upstairs is what to book! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

Been on the hunt for the best Katsudon / tonkatsu in Tokyo. There are so many good options around, from places like this and tasting menu joints to hole in the wall types and market stalls. This place is a good option for a quick, casual lunch. Just one counter but with quite a few varieties of pork tonkatsu with the ribeye and tenderloin being the most popular. The katsudon is served in a few sizes with the largest being this one at 350g. This is their best pork ribeye, panko crusted and fried till golden brown. The pork its self was really tender and well marbled. For me the golden brown panko is super important - I need the colour on a tonkatsu. It was sliced and sat upon a soft omelette and nicely cooked white rice. Really enjoyed the tonkatsu sauce here. Overall really tasty, but just way too thick to enjoy to its fullest. On the side I ordered a 180g tonkatsu which I much preferred. This was even a cheaper cut of pork, but the bite was so much better. Really tender and crispy, super easy to eat. I think going for the smaller size katsudon here is the move. The ebifurai was off the charts good. Definitely get a few of those. Overall it’s a great little spot. No videos allowed in here so watch where you point your phone #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

Had to check out the Chinese restaurant at Waldorf Astoria whilst in Shanghai. Was lucky enough to get in the kitchen and see how their chefs prepare so many delicious traditional dishes. The barbecued roast meat and duck was phenomenal. Just look at the colour, glisten and char on the char siu - it was unreal - ultra soft and so juicy. The glaze was sweet and subtly spiced but the texture was unlike any I’ve had before. Proper char siu. Second favourite dish was their signature crispy chicken in the 4th photo. Looks like duck, but no, the most insane chicken. Shatteringly crisp skin and the juiciest meat - literally dripping as you lift up each piece. The chicken is brined for a few days before being cooked and the result is just wild - first time trying chicken like this. On the side, their Wagyu beef fried rice was the obvious order - perfectly seasoned and flavoured with enough wok hei to give you that smokey bite in each spoonful. Rich and flavoursome. Amazing food here #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

Tokyo takes pizza very seriously. Been wanting to try all the spots here but couldn’t quite fit them all in! Neapolitan style seems to be the thing here. Deliciously fluffy, chewy dough, cooked at high heat for those puffy, leopard spotted crusts and a nicely browned undercarriage. That’s what to expect at Savoy. Only two types on the menu. Marinara, with garlic, basil and plenty of Evoo + margherita. Both were delicious but the marinara was the winner - a really rich and fresh tomato sauce with heaps of perfectly shaved garlic. What made it though, was their ground red chilli pepper on the side - don’t forget to add it. Added alot of points to the score for me. A nice casual vibe too - the unlimited house made iced tea is delicious and you get a little seasonal salad to start. Tasty business. Pizzas come in at like £7.50.. insane value. Lines move quick too. You can be in and out in 30 mins. #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

This place has been on my list for a long time. With just 6-seats, 1-Michelin star and a tiny menu, it’s 100% worth the wait. Chef and owner Yasushi Matsumura has really created something special here. His 30 years in French cuisine most definitely makes its way into the food. Every element of the ramen from the broth, to the pork, to the noodles is so elegantly put together. I loved it. There are 2 main dishes, the classic ramen and the special. The special just has the addition of a pork, foie gras and truffle dumpling inside - but let me tell you, this is the move. It’s the most juicy, meaty and flavoursome dumpling. A must order - it really took it to another level. The broth here is so complex. Made from duck and chicken bones, with the additional depth from prosciutto, scallops, shiitake, kombu and green onions. It’s clear, light and velvety smooth whilst also having a lovely mouth feel and great body to it. Rich and layered. Liquid gold. The noodles were a little soft for me but this ramen just ticks so many boxes. A perfectly gooey egg yolk and the most amazingly tender chashu pork. You feel good after having this. It’s not heavy at all. On the side, their chashu pork rice bowl. Matsumura-san may tell you to pour a few ladles of the ramen broth on to the rice - it’s delicious, but no match for the ramen itself. No need to queue anymore, online bookings are now open #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

25 courses, 11 seats and 1 Michelin star. Sushi Takamitsu is an intimate omakase restaurant set on the quiet backstreets of Nakameguro. Yasuda-san specialises in sourcing and using the highest quality fatty tuna and most amazing varieties of uni. A lot of the produce is exclusive to Takamitsu and you simply won’t be able to find it anywhere else. If theres something he wants, he will outbid anyone to get it, just so he can serve it to his customers. He’s one of the largest buyers of uni in Tokyo. The courses are unique and interesting with my favourites being the bafun uni and white truffle rice, the black-throat sea perch and his amazing chutoro. The perch nigiri was insane - grilled, fatty and super tender, it melted like butter and the two types of vinegar in the rice really completed the bite. Yasuda Takamitsu is an incredible sushi chef. Knife work was wild. The LV luggage he is famous for displaying his produce on was a gift from one of his regulars and it takes pride of place on the counter. Lovely evening, great vibe, delicious sushi and a very friendly team. No English. I would go back for sure.. #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️

A counter that’s really like no other. The menu is of course focused on the beef. It’s all about Wagyu here, with 12 courses in total. It’s a super relaxed and informal setting - Hisato and his team are the most incredible hosts and the evening starts with the chefs breaking down a huge joint of A5. You’ll get to try the beef in many forms. Raw, grilled, slow cooked, and torched to name a few - it’s an interactive tasting menu and you’ll be made to feel right at home throughout. Favourites from the evening (there were a few) were the @davidbeckham Sando which is WM’s take on the Shima classic. Ultra thinly sliced roast Wagyu beef layered between two slices of toasted, buttery milk bread. The beef was perfectly cooked. Delicious. The classic Sando was great too, as good as it looks. Also loved the gyoza with the Wagyusco hot sauce - good heat from their hot sauce and the most juicy dumplings. Almost like a xiaolongbao in terms of filling - crazy juicy. Their bafun uni dog was wild too. I just love the uni in Japan and these guys gave us some of the best. All of the courses washed down with many many highballs and plenty of sake. What a night! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽♂️
