One of my favourites from this trip for sure. This Michelin-starred modern French bistro in DTLA’s Arts District serves up a number of elevated classic like this steak au poivre but so many other fresh and innovative plates too. Their French Onion Tartine was knockout - essentially the top part of a classic French onion soup - garlic rubbed, toasted sourdough, plenty of Gruyère and a generous amount of their reduced French onion jus. An amazing idea and deliciously rich bite. Their scallop Demi-lune pasta was my favourite of the night. A perfectly emulsified better blanc with individually wrapped pasta filled with the sweetest slices of scallop. Incredible balance and consistency in this one, highly recommend. The sirloin was perfectly soft and tender - I think this was the most tender sirloin I’ve ever had. The knife was gliding through each slice with ease and the shiny sauce coated every piece just enough. Spicy, creamy, beefy.. a dream. Roasted chicken - super interesting. They stuff the breast with a mousse made from the thighs and roast till crisp. Served with a deeply spiced tomato sauce. So comforting to eat. Top service and excellent food here.
