- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at Alternative at Alternative
A few selections from the extensive large course menu at @alternativetokyo. Really unexpected flavors made for some delicious dishes. Plus, any time someone serves me charcoal grilled meat with glove instead of utensils, I’m usually happy.

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at Kabi at Kabi
Dinner at @restaurantkabi was a real treat. I enjoyed my prior lunch, but dinner was a much more elaborate affair. Between @shohei_kabi’s cooking and @kentarovin’s wine list, it was an excellent night. Be sure to check out their new bar upstairs, too, even if you’re not having dinner.

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at Esquisse at ESqUISSE (エスキス)
A remarkable thing happened on my most recent visit to one of my favorite restaurants anywhere, Esquisse. After closing for a short remodel, they’ve somehow reopened better than before. @chef_lionel_beccat is a genius with flavor, as well as a gracious host. The front of house is fantastic, and parings are brilliant. A must go.

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at 銀座 篝 at Ginza Kagari Hon Ten (銀座 篝)
One of the greatest bowls of noodles in the world. Tried the new, shop-exclusive Shoyu flavor, and it was even better than the original. Just... wow. Get there when they open or expect a wait.

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at 八雲茶寮 at Yakumo Saryo
A few shots from the always-excellent Yakumo Saryo. My first visit in the summer season, and their hamo/early matsutake fried dish was exceptional. #latergram

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at Zén at Zén
Restaurant Zén was such a great experience that I ran out of superlatives. I love this kind of fine dining - unabashedly modern, without sacrificing quality and style. Restaurant Zén was such a great experience that I ran out of superlatives. I love this kind of fine dining - unabashedly modern, without sacrificing quality and style. Reminds me a lot of why I fell in love with Saison years back. Not posting too much of the food to keep it a surprise, but everything I ate was basically perfect. Outstanding, smart pairings. Brilliantly cool staff. I left after 5.5 hours only because jet lag was kicking my ass. Also, I don’t believe in God, but I do believe in Zén waffles and wild strawberries. Go now, before it’s impossible to get in and they get all the international accolades. Less

- Justin Hurst added a new meal Dinner at ZURRIOLA at ZURRIOLA (スリオラ)
A few shots of an absolutely delicious menu at Zurriola. I certainly wasn’t expecting to find elegant, Basque-Japanese food on top of a department store in Tokyo, but by now I should know better. I have yet to try to find a kind of food and not be able to find it in this city, usually very well executed. For this one, lots of technique and smart flavors,... More
A few shots of an absolutely delicious menu at Zurriola. I certainly wasn’t expecting to find elegant, Basque-Japanese food on top of a department store in Tokyo, but by now I should know better. I have yet to try to find a kind of food and not be able to find it in this city, usually very well executed. For this one, lots of technique and smart flavors, great service, and a deep Spanish wine list. A definite return for me. Less
