Pink scallops so fresh, they wriggled when I put lemon on them. Thank you, @loursinseattle friends.

Flight delays, crazy holiday travel crowds, junky weather, and me rolling my suitcase up to the door as I’m thirty minutes late (I loathe being late) — all washed away with a fantastic cocktail. It’s good to be back.

Monday night, at a Seattle institution, with a Seattle institution. Always a pleasure to sit at Murray’s bar.

Brilliant dinner from @sidney_schutte at @librijeszusje. Inventive, wild flavor combinations elevated flawless technique. Daring parings from @fph_altink made the meal something special, and @berber_vergeest and team were delightful in the front of house. Absolutely world class.

What a gem! In Bosco out in Bunkyo-ku is starting with Italian and then just going freestyle. Delicious, welcoming, interesting wine pairings that were all new to me, and an admirable after dinner drink selection. Looking forward to returning soon. @toshikiwatanabe

Selections from the autumn menu at @abysserestaurant, as delicious as they are beautiful.

Some highlights from a delicious meal at @roppongishirato77. The extended tasting menu was baseline French, but had strong Japanese and Chinese influences as well. A small, smart space and kind staff. It’s an amazing fact of Tokyo that restaurants this good can be hidden away with little fanfare.

One of the loveliest little bistros. Charming, delicious, and oh yeah, Selosse for half what it would be back home. What else do you want in life?

After a jetlag-busting nap, it’s time for a proper coffee. Made right, with great canal-side people watching.
