Balance between simplicity and refinement across the dishes... pasta and risotto dishes were good, although I wanted more hot pasta dishes! Good service even though they got my wine order wrong and chose the (much more) expensive bottle. Worth a hike if you haven't been before.

One of my favourite yakitori places. The chochin is godly, cooked to perfection and particularly satisfying when those globules explode in your mouth. On this occasion, the skewers were better than I remembered from the previous time.. juicier, hotter and bigger pieces. So good.

Some wines for a friend's birthday. The 2012 Mouton was on form... dark cocoa, coffee, blueberries and dark cherries. Graphite laden but impactful and prolonged finish.. Nice smokey, gamey mid palate also. Definitely on the young side but already showing its potential. 1955 Vega Sicilia, only slight madeirisation but not unexpected given the wine..... More

Definitely on the young side but already showing its potential. 1955 Vega Sicilia, only slight madeirisation but not unexpected given the wine.. dark spices, plum and tobacco encased in a wet and dark forest. For me, one of the best examples of the 55 I have tasted. Exceptional, long finish of vanilla, cigar and macerated cherries. Outstanding with beef.

For some of the best 血合いぎし, this is the place to go.. and just tuna in general. Powerful and balanced shari paired with well portioned neta and just a dash of nikiri. The otsumami changes frequently and whilst hard to beat the nigiri, is still top notch. Last visit was the best meal so far.... More

For me, eons too young..the Liger Belair I believe are owned by Xavier and made at the premises of Dufouleur... La Rom went to what is now CLB and Xavier got Richebourg. Earthy, a bit green put balanced in a strange sort of way. Kind of like when you wear a pair socks that don't match but yet it kind of works. 91 off vintage but that's the thing about these off vintages... expect little and they deliver well. Everytime I drink Griotte from Dugat I have my fingers crossed that it is drinking now.. but alas.. I will continue to be patient. Inky, unresolved, blueberry darkness. Prieure Roch was less ass-like than usual... perhaps 11 helped it... reduction, red cherries and stems. Nice with the bear.
