Some wines for a friend's birthday. The 2012 Mouton was on form... dark cocoa, coffee, blueberries and dark cherries. Graphite laden but impactful and prolonged finish.. Nice smokey, gamey mid palate also. Definitely on the young side but already showing its potential. 1955 Vega Sicilia, only slight madeirisation but not unexpected given the wine.. dark spices, plum and tobacco encased in a wet and dark forest. For me, one of the best examples of the 55 I have tasted. Exceptional, long finish of vanilla, cigar and macerated cherries. Outstanding with beef.
