Some great wines for dinner. I'm not a big Champagne drinker but the single plot blanc de blancs worked extremely well with many of the appetisers, especially when slightly chilled. The barrel ageing highlighted the limestone driven minerality and despite the extended aging, the wine retains incredible freshness. The Folatieres was a tad reductive but a wide array of stone, orchard, citrus fruits. Again, mineral goodness and a soft orange peel tart like finish.. this disappeared from glasses quickly. The smokey, weighty BBM hit the high notes quickly. Rich, peach, white flowers and quite a bit if length on the outstanding finish. Benjamin's village red was batting above its ERA, showing more as a 1er.. which isn't surprising given the location of the Veroilles, Cras and Chatelots ploys. Half whole bunch with a touch of new oak, the wine shows more subtlety than expected. Plum, strawberry dark cherries and violets.. with hints of sweet spices... Great finish to the night
