A place that diehard washoku lovers rave about a lot. Rightly so in that within the Kyoaji lineage, I would say this shop pushes the modernity in flavour a bit more than some of his counterparts, so i would put this pretty high on my list from this lineage. 4月の「星野」の主役は、筍。京都 塚原産と静岡産のニ種類を料理によって使い分けている。

塚原の筍は直焼きで供され、今はなき「京味」を彷彿させる。

静岡は特定の生産者によるもので、京都の最高級の筍に匹敵するくらい、素晴らしい。鮮度の良さもさることながら、雑味の一切ない澄んだ味わいと梨を思わせるようなしゃりしゃりとした歯ごたえが出色。

Final rice course was plain cooked rice with chirimen (dried Japanese small anchovies) しぐれ煮 sweet cooked beef which I always joked as the Japanese version of 燈影牛肉, akamiso soup with sansho. For refill I got a raw egg yolk which to me was the ultimate condiment for Japanese rice. Dessert was warabi mochi with kuromame kinako (toasted black soy bean powder).
