The biggest prawns, these things are like mini lobsters - super meaty and delicious. Grilled over the roaring Woodfire and brushed liberally with a Cajun spiced brown butter. An amazing spicy, nutty flavour that lingers in the mouth. Aside from these, the steak here is some of the best you’ll find in Dubai. It’s just a different level - high quality beef and flawless technique. The steaks are marinated in Akmal’s own rub before being grilled. An incredible crust all over with well rendered fat. Ultra beefy in flavour with hints of rosemary. Delicious. Very good food here with a focus on the grill. No booze. 1 Michelin star #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

A very good tahdig. Aside from all of the other great Persian food at Berenjak Jumeirah, the tahdig is one of my favourite sides. This only comes with the larger sharing plates like the slow-cooked lamb shoulder and whole chicken but it’s super delicious and satisfying. An ultra crispy casing and the fluffiest saffron rice underneath - perfectly cooked individual grains that work so beautifully with all the food. The lamb shoulder with this is just so good. Mains are great but don’t forget about all the starters and sides - go heavy on those. truffle chicken Olivieh is nuts! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

Went down to Sumosan for dinner and the food was exceptional. Don’t confuse this Sumosan with Twiga from London as the restaurant here is a very different offering. A solid Japanese menu serving up an innovative mix of classics with sushi and sashimi at the forefront. The nigiri here is very good. Beyond the level of most Japanese spots of this scale. Individual, firm grains of rice with a nice sweetness and subtle kick of vinegar. Perfectly crafted slithers of sashimi layered on top with a lick of soy and fresh wasabi. Great otoro and Wagyu nigiri. The uni from Hokkaido was special too - this variety was ultra creamy and buttery smooth. It had an almost melting texture to it. My favourites from the main menu were the smoked hamachi, the crispy duck salad and the toro tartare, as well as the Wagyu sirloin and Wagyu sando. A nice alternative to the usual suspects in DIFC - made a nice change and definitely a step up on the food offering! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

An outstanding dinner. Congrats to these guys on their star - the food and service was excellent all round. This was my second visit and definitely my favourite so far. Opted for the black Angus beef sirloin cooked over Woodfire - a beautiful piece of meat from the one and only @mr_txuleta . Lovely yellow fat that was nicely rendered and really tasty thin slices of beef. I always order a side of beef jus to go along with the potatoes here or at @bratrestaurant - it’s a magical combination. Deeply flavoured and rich. Service was top - the waitress knew the menu and ingredients very well and the sommelier was excellent too, suggesting this fresh Chenin when the one I ordered was sold out. Had a number of other dishes and some fish for main also but will follow up with part 2 separately. Worth a visit! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

One pub, four stories and three dining rooms. The new kid on the block delivered on all fronts. It’s pub food done correctly. The majority of main plates here are centred around their Woodfire grill on the first floor - I’d try and reserve in here if you want to catch the grill action. All three dining rooms share the same menu though. In terms of the food, you’ll find no over-engineering or complicating here - it’s a menu of classics that are well executed. Food you want to eat in a pub that actually hits the mark on flavour. All of the baking and dry-ageing is done in house with a big butchery in the basement. My favourites of the night were the Iberico pork ribs and the bone-in ribeye. The bite sized ribs were so good I ordered three more portions - charred, sticky and beautifully soft. Falling off the bone with nicely rendered fat and a sweet glaze. The 850g ribeye arrived with a lovely crust and perfect medium rare temp. The beef was buttery soft. Good marbling and funky, beefy flavour. Green sauce was the winner for me. Brawn toast didn’t love, not quite my taste but nicely put together. Lamb hotpot, yum. A lovely stewed lamb filling with carrots, onions and nice lamb jus with crispy scalloped potatoes on the top. Sticky toffee for dessert is essential - top tier. Place is heaving, good vibes will be back for sure - a lot more to try #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

A very delicious dinner at Leo’s. This local charmer on Chatsworth road is worth a visit. It’s a retro-styled Italian diner and @pep_belvedere really knows what he’s doing. I had one of the most amazing dishes here which I’ll save for a separate post - probably one of the tastiest plates I’ve had so far in 2024. Other than that, I had their white lasagne, tagliolini with porcini butter and black truffle and the grilled brill. All three were beautifully prepared. The white lasagne was creamy and al dente with a rich layers of tender pork ragu and spinach throughout. A perfectly caramelised, crispy top. Delectable. The egg yolk tagliolini, made in house with the most vibrant colour and firm texture. Fragrant and tasty. The brill was tender and sweet, with a viscous and tart lemon butter sauce - v good. A super casual and pleasant atmosphere with great service and knowledgable staff! If only there were more spots like this! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

One of my favourite bites in London without a doubt. The beef tartare and caviar rosti at Dorian is just too good. When I first tried the sensational beef tartare here, I knew it had to be combined with Max’s signature rostis and some caviar. One week later and that’s exactly what went down. A golden morsel of crispy potato and the most unctuous, well balanced raw beefy topping. Congrats to Max and the team on achieving their first Michelin star! Really well deserved. Another day another charming Parisian bistro. This time, dinner at Jaïs. An amazing place - the food here is knockout. A warm, intimate dining room with clusters of close tables and an open kitchen. The menu features a number of chef Jaïs own twists on the classics. The creamed linguine with oscietra caviar and 18-month cured Tajima Wagyu was incredible. What a plate - the pasta was al dente and neutrally flavoured to let the caviar and Wagyu beef work their magic. A mouthful of pure umami. The scallop and melanosporum black truffle carpaccio was delicious too - doused in olive oil, black pepper and bread crumb. Highly recommend ordering the dry-aged Simmental beef rib too. The steak here is rich and funky - a beautiful crust and soft, tender texture. A menu and atmosphere that’ll keep you coming back #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

First time trying Alaya in DIFC, was v good - food and service were excellent. A lovely menu bringing together a nice mix of Middle-eastern and Mediterranean dishes. Plenty of choice but definitely had a few favourites. From the starters, the muhammara with sweet peppers, pomegranate and walnut was delicious, as were the grilled harissa prawns and tomato & cheese salad. The tomato and cheese was super tasty - not had one like this before. For mains, I loved two dishes. The Wagyu Shish was sensational - ultra soft, tender and juicy beef, nicely caramelised and served with a homemade harissa. Almost like a Wagyu shawarma in a way - delicious and addictive. The Chilean bass spesitosa was amazing too - buttery soft and flaky but with a nice char, served with a sweet and fresh tomato and pepper sauce. All of the food was spiced and very well seasoned. Hassleback looked pretty but was a little underwhelming imo. Had a lovely 2020 Puligny Montrachet from @louislatour1797 to go along with all of this. Nice place, would go back for this food - would describe it as a sort of elevated Middle Eastern menu. Save space for dessert - the pistachio ice cream is ridic, as is the kunefe #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

Had some incredible sea urchin the other day at Arts, straight from Hokkaido, Japan. Large puffy pieces of the creamiest, most delicious uni. Difficult to get it any fresher than this over here. This was served at Rohen, the Japanese on the 2nd floor - excellent food all round. Will post a few more bits from here but the uni deserved its own spotlight! Looking forward to Japan next month! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️
