In Bangkok for a week of intense eating and our first stop was @ledubkk - Asia’s Best Restaurant in 2023! It was my first time back at the restaurant since the renovation where the space received a swanky update with a ceiling installation of over 10,000 glass tubes. The menu showcases @cheftonn’s reinterpretation of classic Thai dishes with seasonal ingredients and modern techniques; signature dishes include the traditional summer dish Khao Chae and the Khao Kluk Kapi (river prawn) with pork belly jam, shrimp paste, and organic rice. We then ended the night with cocktails at the chef’s new rooftop restaurant @ledukaan which boasts some of the best views in Bangkok - what a way to end our first night in the city!

Another visit to newish restaurant @restaurantonice in the antiques district of Nice. Chefs Lorenzo Ragni and Florencia Montes deliver a dining journey that’s both soulful and technically brilliant. A well-deserved Michelin star and easily one of the highlights of the Riviera these days. I’m very glad they are there, especially since we will be losing one of my favourite Nice restaurants Pure & V later this year. Visit them while you can 👌🏻

Visitámos o espaço mais descontraído da herdade — uma extensão filosófica do restaurante principal, onde se come bem, sem cerimónia, e onde cada prato parece devolver-nos à terra que o criou.

Most people go to Afghan restaurants for the meat, but I head straight to the dumplings. And this new spot, which is a second location of a longtime Astoria restaurant, makes the ultimate dumpling platter.

Not only is there beef mantu, but also a flatter boiled dumpling called aushak. Both are smothered in yogurt and tomato sauces, which make them slippery flavor boats. Oh man they’re so great.

Ooof! These tacos are in Greenpoint, Brooklyn but I’d rank them among the best in AZ and Northern Mexico … There’s so much going on here, eating one is like being punched in the tongue by a tangy chile demon. Nice work, @taqueriaelchato.nyc!

Also, I think it’s time to do a taco tour of Greenpoint and Williamsburg. I’d start here with the tripas and their take on al pastor, then hit up @taqueria_ramirez_ for some Mexico City suadero and onto @essetaco for those mushroom tacos. I’m sure there are other great places but this is just off the top of my head. Seriously I’m digging this idea!

“Two words: Malai chicken. Tender chicken thighs bathed in a creamy sauce sizzle and steam in their cast iron pan. So simple yet so rich, the bubbling white curry begs to be scraped from the bottom of the plate so that not a drop is wasted.“
