Just here to say that I had a perfect 10/10 meal at the new Om Wok in Astoria. I think these were the biggest, beefiest best momos I’ve ever had. But this Tibetan blood sausage dish called gyuma, it just took my breath away. Housemade, so funky with liver meat and peppercorny bouncy! Seared on the edges!!! I was dying crying loving, living! Haha.
Like Shakespeare, I’ve coined a new phrase to use when describing deviled eggs, which are the world’s most perfect food … The “custardy mustardy part” refers to that heavenly yolk center, which here is topped with caviar because hell, it’s been a month.
I rate Long Island’s caviar delights from least to most delicious in my latest... More
“Next time you’re walking around Huntington village thinking about what to eat for dinner, may we suggest going to @ikka.li to see the biryani in a tube ... It’s rather dark inside the new restaurant, but when a server comes out carrying a half-charred tube made from bamboo, pay attention, because they’re about to pour the steaming... More
This feisty little gem deserves a spot on the grid, mostly because it kicked my ass but also because I’m surprised it was this good. I wanted to show my friend Ben something good to eat in Elmhurst, and I was planning to take him to the Taiwanese place with the hot and sour soup, or the Indonesian ramen place or maybe some Thai or Vietnamese, but... I dunno if this has ever happened to you, but I went into a vintage store today to get a new pair of jeans, and I must have tried on eight different pairs before I realized nothing in the store was going to fit me. I left the place so frustrated that I decided to go to a barre class that evening. Which was great, but when I was leaving, a woman on the... More
Newsday published my article on @gasalongthai.ny in Great Neck, Long Island this week, and I’m saying now, this is one to watch. I just went for lunch by myself, but I left thinking I want to come back with more people and try more of the Northern Thai dishes from the menu. I was really impressed by the beautiful lanterns, sophisticated... More
The @newsdayfeedme team just put out our best dishes we ate this April. I wrote about a stellar breakfast sandwich, and this fish …
The fish pollichathu was the highlight of a recent lunch at the new @crown_of_spices in Levittown. The kitchen specializes in Southern Indian recipes from Tamil Nadu, and whoa!!!! I’ve been... More
This article came out while I was on vacation and I’m just now posting about it, but just look at this fabulous plate of pork bossam. Some of the pieces were so fatty, I felt absurd eating them. It’s like straight pork fat. But I took most of it home and even used some of the fatty bits to cook sweet potatoes.

I convinced my editors to let me do a Brooklyn taco crawl, and they put it on the cover!
I’m so proud of this one, as you can see I’m going back to my roots and writing about tacos. For a little while, I felt like I was back in Tucson again, except for the fact that it was like 25 degrees outside at the time, which made it slightly challenging... More
More evidence that you should not be ordering tacos at most Mexican places in New York. Because there are other more delicious things on the menu, like cemitas! The sandwich of Puebla, stacked so beautifully here, is spicy, sweet, buttery, savory, creamy, cheesy! Oh my gosh it’s fantastic.
