Stopped by @yuanjerseycity located conveniently outside the Newpor Mall! This welcoming space features a wide range of Chinese cuisines and dishes. We loved the noodles, tofu, and stir fries - and make sure to save room for dessert!

Still thinking about this fabulous bowl of Chongqing Wanza noodles I had in Jersey City a couple weeks back. Served at a restaurant called @yuanjerseycity, the noodles are similar to Sichuan dandan but have a dollop of yellow pea mash, almost like a curry on top. Never heard of these noodles before but I had to try them after reading @rsietsema ‘s report.

Although I did have an unsettling experience when I walked into the restaurant. I was the only white person there, and my server asked in a joking way, “Let me guess what you’re having? I’ll say stir fried noodles with vegetables and tofu.”

I gave him a scoff, and then said my order would be Chongqing Wanza noodles and the cold chicken in Sichuan mala chile oil. But to my chagrin, the server didn’t even look impressed! I thought about changing my order to pork knuckles or something but it was too late. Ha! Joke’s on me, I guess I’m just a regular Joe after all. At least the noodles were good. 🤣
