In my career I’ve been to scores of large group dinners, but few can surpass last night’s Penfolds dinner honoring Jacques Pepin on his 90th birthday. It was held at Under-Study the new restaurant next to Press in Saint Helena. Obviously you can’t order the same dinner at Press but what it showed me is that Philip Tessier and his crew are among... Duck, served three ways, is a much deserved speciality at Boiling Beijing in San Bruno.

Izzy‘s Steaks & Chops has been totally remodeled but lovingly designed to honor its roots back to 1987. It feels both modern and nostalgic. It’s time to rediscover Roka Akor! This 12 year-old Japanese restaurant is great for a group because of the wide ranging offerings of sushi, steak and other dishes.
No place I know of produces a better banquet menu than HK Lounge Bistro. Winter melon soup, giant surf clams, roast squab, steak with asparagus, pan fried turbo and two lobster dishes all showcase the talent in the kitchen!
