In my career I’ve been to scores of large group dinners, but few can surpass last night’s Penfolds dinner honoring Jacques Pepin on his 90th birthday. It was held at Under-Study the new restaurant next to Press in Saint Helena. Obviously you can’t order the same dinner at Press but what it showed me is that Philip Tessier and his crew are among the best in the Bay Area.
