The vol-au-vent was amazing: light, crisp, buttery puff pastry with veal sweetbreads, chicken, spinach and truffled jus. The chou de Pontoise farci had a great depth of flavour: stuffed Pontoise cabbage with a rich pork and Morteau sausage farce, braised until soft, topped with crème fraîche. Had a very good meal on my first visit. As evidenced by the spectacular meat preparations @brescadc and @jont_dc, Chef @r_ratino’s meat cookery excels through careful sourcing combined with dry-aging knowledge to extract maximum flavor. I look forward to coming back to try more cuts 🥩🍔

Jaime Tejedor ha conseguido - y parecía complicado hace ya cuatro años - imponer su carta de raíces catalanas y cimientos clásicos en una zona que, tradicionalmente, no ha sido especialmente acogedora con las novedades gastronómicas.

Pertenece a esa clase de cocineros que se conocen los fundamentos y la ética de su oficio y los practican más allá de las modas y tendencias o de los dictados de guías o listas. Nombres como Benito Gómez, Miguel Palma o Juanjo Carmona se vienen a la cabeza junto al de Tejedor en la provincia de Málaga. Una cocina de raíces, sabrosa, elegante y, al mismo tiempo, atávica, profunda y servida con la generosidad que sólo conocen los hosteleros de raza. If you find yourself in the Methow Valley, head to Lupo Brio in Twisp for simple, seasonal, sensational Italian food. Open since January, Lupo Brio is the successor to the long-running Tappi, and sister restaurant to 1908 BBQ & Bourbon just down the street. Tyler and Nicky Krost are the dynamic food-and-wine duo behind both restaurants, along with business partner Jen Tate. At Lupo, house-made pastas and pizzas anchor a menu that showcases local meats, fish and produce. Start with an apple, arugula and prosciutto salad (1) or carpaccio scribbled with horseradish ricotta (2). Share a pizza (3), or a pasta. I suggest the Lupo de Mare (4) with plump shrimp snuggled against luxuriously creamy pistachio pesto, or rigatoni alla vodka (5) smothered in vibrant pomodoro sauce. Steelhead (6) perched on a bed of vegetables is a good bet from the fresh sheet. The fish was as impeccably cooked as the bistecca alla Lupo (7), a 24oz porterhouse from Gebbers Farms, 4th generation family cattle ranchers in nearby Brewster, WA. Review of La Gondola Pizzeria in Ramsey, NJ

Hey Atlanta Grubber fam! Just got back from a trip to New York State for a bat mitzvah, where we were extremely well-fed. But you know how it is—when in the area, you’ve gotta explore the local food scene. So, Mrs. Grub and I took a day trip to NYC and, of course, hit up a nearby pizza shop on the Jersey side, not far from the state line.

Now, everyone knows the rules: New Jersey is a top contender for the country's best pizza. As a South Jersey native, I’ve had my fair share of great pies in the Phillyburbs. We’ve had a few in North Jersey, the Big Apple suburbs including the renowned Kinchley’s Tavern, not far from where we were staying. Since that was already checkmarked a few times, this time, we decided to try @lagondolapizzeriaramsey in Ramsey, NJ—a top-rated spot I hadn’t been to before.

Despite it being our third meal of the day (the first two in Manhattan, mind you as reviewed previous!), we couldn't pass up the chance to try this place. Their "#1 rated pie" was the bruschetta, and Mrs. Grub was all in for it. She absolutely loved the roasted garlic, and I was impressed by the fresh tomatoes, which seemed to be added right after baking. Trust me, it was a tough act to follow after John’s of Bleecker earlier that day, but La Gondola held its own and came highly recommended.

While most of my NJ pizza favorites have been visited by @stoolpresidente, it seems La Gondola might have slipped under his radar, though my search may have missed it. It might not hit a 9.3 like John’s, but he’d be missing out if he didn’t give this spot a very good rating.
