I first heard about @restaurant_aure , it wasn’t just the food that caught my attention. It was the story. An 18th-century gunpowder house, auctioned off to fate, and a team of dreamers, @emmanoerbygaard and @nicky.arentsen, holding their breath, wondering if they’d even get the keys... and just months later, a Michelin star shines above their door.

Aure isn’t about excess. It’s about intention. Every ingredient - wild duck, lime-kissed lobster, platinum caviar — is given space to breathe. The flavors feel alive. There’s restraint here, but also a quiet confidence that lingers long after the last bite.
I love that the walls of this place have history, that the team built something extraordinary out of a moment that nearly slipped through their fingers.

Recommended bowl: Former drillman

Master Takeda-san helped open this shop along with the head of the BASSO Drillman ramen group, Shinagawa-san, in December 2015. Originally the two were running the shop side-by-side, but Takeda-san eventually bought Shinagawa-san out and now runs the shop solo. The two remain good friends though, and Takeda-san continues to order fresh noodles daily from Shinagawa-san's shops. The main go-to on the menu here is the chūka soba, with shoyu tare and a mostly chicken-based soup (just a hint of pork). The tsukemen is also excellent, and don't sleep on the aburasoba either. Big fan of what they’re doing at @thewarmouth in Columbia, S.C. Not a BBQ joint per se, more farm to table with a wood-fired barbecue pit. Excellent chopped pork with tart, bright yellow mustard sauce and splendid hash with a sharp vinegar tang. Plus there’s hearty chicken bog with housemade onion sausage — South Carolina classics all.

Dinner at @thaicuptea

I tried out this great hidden gem, serving thai tea and thai/Malaysian dishes near Holborn. I tried the coconut and pinapple ice milk, which was excellent. For dinner, we ordered the sharing starters, Thai phat kaphrao with rice and fried egg. Malay nasi lemak the chicken curry. Green papaya and mango salad and finished with Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. All the food was excellent and I would definitely recommend this place. Especially the Thai phat kaphrao, was really fucking good
