Open since July 2018, Menya Somei Yoshino serves up shoyu ramen made from a variety of ingredients. The base to the soup is domestic chickens, followed by katsuobushi, kombu, niboshi and about 10 kinds of vegetables. The soup takes about 10 hours to make, and contains no MSG. Noodles are ordered via Hōka Shokuhin, made using 'Somei Yoshino' brand Japanese wheat. Somei Yoshino also happens to be a variety of cherry blossom. A lovely lunch at the husband and wife run izakaya just off Carnaby. Lots of sushi and sashimi along with plenty of creative Japanese small plates utilising seasonal British and European produce. The torikara to start was delicious - fried chicken two ways. The crispy thigh balls and drumets each perfectly crisp and super juicy. The yaki-onigiri was tasty too - a binchotan grilled ball of sushi rice, serve in a rich savoury dashi. All the sushi was excellent. Nicely seasoned shari and refined use of wasabi. There are a few hand rolls here but the negitoro and hay-smoked otoro were my favourites. Delicate and well seasoned with the subtle kicks of smoke really penetrating the fish. It was the Wagyu tri-tip special that I loved the most though. Carefully grilled, rested and sliced - blushing pink and with nice marbling running through each piece. It’s only a small counter here, great little spot for lunch. Top sushi for the price and lots of innovative small plates to try. Would go back for sure #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

Lunch at @kibou_restaurants Cambridge

Alright, buckle up, Cambridge, because I just had a dining experience at Kibou Japanese Kitchen & Bar that was nothing short of an absolute revelation. Forget what you think you know about Japanese restaurants; Kibou isn't just serving food. They're crafting an immersive journey for your senses.
From the moment you step through the doors, you're transported. The interior is a masterclass in stylish, vibrant Japanese artistry. Think dazzling murals that pop with colour, intricate cherry blossom installations that seem to bloom right before your eyes, and a cool, almost theatrical glow from the subtle neon accents. It’s chic without being stuffy, lively without being overwhelming, and frankly, I spent a good five minutes just taking in the sheer beauty of the place before even glancing at the menu. Whether you're nestled in one of their intimate booths, soaking in the energy of the main dining area, or even getting a peek at the culinary magic happening in the open sushi and hot kitchens, every corner feels thoughtfully designed.
And then, the food. Oh, the food! We embarked on a culinary adventure, starting with their new crispy sesame prawn boa toast. Wow, this was awesome. Next up, tuna sashimi, Wagyu, and tuna tartare gunkan and lightly seared Hokkaido scallops with goma dare (sesame sauce), chilli oil, cucumber & tomato salsa. Followed by seven different blow touched nigiri, this was absolutely incredible. The flavours were out of this world. We ordered the snow crab and avocado salad, which was ok, I found it really needed a dressing. Next was one of my favourite dishes, sirloin of beef tataki & truffle nigiri!
8-piece nigiri with sirloin of beef tataki & truffle mayo, tempura flakes & chives, this was insanely good. Last up was the bluefin tuna chutoro uramaki, perfect dish to finish this incredible meal. For dessert, we shared a yuzu tart and a japanese baked cheesecake, which were both incredible. Overall, @kiboucambridge is 100% with trying, and I'd definitely put it in my top 3 restaurants in Cambridge

Desayunando en uno de mis lugares favoritos de la provincia: la Cafetería Molletería Puerta Nueva, en Vélez-Málaga, donde Sergio Muñoz y su mujer sirven una enorme variedad de molletes y bocadillos con ingredientes de calidad y preparaciones propias. Discovered this place back in 2013, read a menu & realized that this was a Pakistani place, 12 years later we are still loyal patrons, authentic Kebabs, delicious Chole (chick peas) and made to order Kadai Chicken/ Mutton with fluffy fresh Tandoori Roti is a meal that still makes me swoon!

This 💯 Halal spot is cherished by many in University City, but if you are yet to discover Kabobeesh, I advice you to try their Malai Tikka and Lamb chop meals !
