NEW Pizza spot in Houston — Brought the whole family to the new Murray’s Pizza & Wine, and it was a hit with everyone! Cozy inside, an inviting outdoor patio, and service that was excellent from start to finish. Everything we tried was delicious, especially the Local Lettuces salad, Meatballs, and Crudo.

Go with a group so you can try all the pizzas. Leftovers are a bonus because the pizza still tastes incredible the next day. That crust is so good. It’s chewy, lightly blistered, with just the right crunch. Murray’s really nails it. And their Prosciutto & Arugula pizza is the best version I’ve had in Houston.

For dessert, don’t miss the Italian Bread Pudding. I’m usually not a bread pudding fan, but this one won me over, especially with a scoop of pistachio gelato. Such a great, family-friendly spot that we’ll definitely be back to!

Kusumara, or “The Bush”, is a nostalgic, family-owned shop doing things the same way over multiple generations. The decor is outdated but no one seems to mind. Simple ramen noodles go into a clear, katsuo-heavy soup, ladled out of a pot which looks like it’s been in use for decades. Typical old school Tokyo-style shoyu. Loved the pizza at PST. Tokyo is definitely one of the world’s best pizza cities alongside Naples and Copenhagen. The margherita was great here but the tamaki was even better (amazing cherry tomatoes, fresh smoked mozzarella, pecorino Romano and basil). This is fine dining that blurs lines of cultures and cuisines, a menu rooted in German terroir, layered with Japanese precision, and elevated by Tohru Nakamura’s unmistakable touch for harmony and contrast from his background.

Right from the start, you know it’s special: the opening oyster dish is presented exactly as it’s cooked, flame-seared in the kitchen, then served tableside still carrying that smoky aroma. Trüf mantarı tophaneyle (pideyle) buluşursa! Black truffle meets Turkish pide.

This is Tophane pide, one of my favourites, from Giresun on Turkey’s Black Sea coast. It is simple and direct. Round, compact, with a dough that bakes crisp and crunchy rather than soft or stretchy. My favourite one is @hacapuripide (although I am not a big fan of other pides there). Make sure you ask for it as it is not on the menu.

After baking, the top is lifted off like a lid. Egg yolks go in, followed by a generous amount of butter. The lid is put back on and the heat does the rest. The butter melts, the yolks loosen and the inside turns rich. Very rich! More butter is brushed on the sides and the top.

If you happen to have truffle in your pocket, black or white, it fits easily(!)

My stay at @hyattregencywaikiki has been such a highlight of this trip.

The hotel has everything you could want in the heart of Waikiki, and their all you can eat seafood and Korean BBQ buffet is worth a visit on its own. Every station was generous, fresh, and so well executed.

The property also hosts a luau right on site, which made the experience even more memorable with great food, music, and stories that bring Hawaiian culture to life.

Huge thank you to the team for such a warm and thoughtful stay. I always appreciate the hospitality here. Can’t wait to come back!
