This might be Austria’s most iconic restaurant 🇦🇹⭐️⭐️

In the fields of Burgenland sits @taubenkobel.austria , a two-star institution founded in 1984 by Walter Eselböck, now run by his daughter Barbara and her husband Alain Weisgerber.

The Eselböcks are the closest thing Austria has to culinary royalty, Barbara’s sister Stephanie runs the cult natural wine estate @gutoggau . It’s a family where food and terroir are a way of life.

The cooking is local, minimal, and pure, at times elegant, at times almost too restrained. A place where simplicity reigns, for better and for worse.

Taubenkobel feels nonchalant, from the setting to the service and that’s both its strength and its weakness.

🇨🇳 ร้านอาหารจีนหนึ่งเดียวในโรงแรม Four Seasons Bangkok โรงแรมที่เพิ่งคว้ารางวัล No.2 จาก @50best_hotels ประจำปีนี้ ที่นี่เป็นร้านอาหารจีนระดับหนึ่งดาวมิชลินที่ขึ้นชื่อเรื่องการคัดวัตถุดิบและเทคนิคการปรุงแบบต้นตำรับ

เคยพาหม่าม้ามาทานที่นี่ครั้งหนึ่งแล้วจำได้ว่าเค้าชอบมากเลยตั้งใจพากลับมาทานอีกครั้ง รอบนี้เลือกเป็นคอร์สซิกเนเจอร์ของทางร้าน ซึ่งรวบรวมเมนูเด่นไว้ครบทั้งหมูแดง หมูกรอบ และหมูหัน ดีทุกคำจริงๆ

แต่จานที่ประทับใจที่สุดคือกระเพาะปลาตุ๋นในซุปเป๋าฮื้อ รสกลมกล่อม เข้มข้นแต่ไม่เลี่ยน ถ้วยนี้คือที่สุดแล้วจริงๆ 🥹 และยิ่งได้เห็นหม่าม้าทานไปชมไปทั้งมื้อลูกสาวคนนี้ก็ชื่นใจเพราะนานๆทีเค้าจะชมเยอะขนาดนี้ ถ้าใครชอบทานผักแนะนำให้สั่งเมนูผัดถั่วแขกกับผักคะน้ามาลองด้วยเชฟทำได้ดีมากจริงๆ

There is a time and place for crawfish, and typically for me, that is a bit later in the year.

But then photographer @davidgrunfeld proposed an outing to check in with Jason Seither at @seithers_seafood in Harahan.

And, just like picking up a whiff of an appetizing scent you’ve been missing, the suggestion swiftly became a compulsive craving.

Soon they will be much bigger and cost less. But this was a joy - like watching football again after a season off.

And there was also the time spent snapping tails and peeling shells and talking with friends at the table, a part of the crawfish experience as integral as cayenne.

Friday longnecks were easily justified. The pace of a busy week slowed pleasurably.
