A few days in Cannes, never complete without a trip to Le Maschou. These guys have been open since the 60’s and it’s a favourite amongst many of my friends. It’s very much a meat forward restaurant, with the vegan menu priced alot higher than everything else. The crudités basket to start is huge - lots of fresh vegetables and a side of classic creamy vinaigrette and two types of anchovy sauce. Delicious in itself. On the side, lots of cold cuts on offer but the prosciutto with melon and Wagyu bresaola (when available) are amazing - seasoned table side. For mains, a selection of meats to choose from. Steak is at the forefront with lots of cuts available but their roast chicken is popular too. I ended up going for the two steaks pictured: a 60-day matured Simmental beef rib and a USDA prime black Angus rib. One boneless and one on the bone. The beef is cooked over Woodfire till it’s perfectly charred and pink. Well rested and super tasty beef. It’s a little bit of a mixed bag in terms of how tender the beef will be here. The black Angus was utterly soft, the Simmental not so much but it won on flavour. Served with woodfired potato and a cream cheese sauce. If meat and potatoes is your thing, this is the spot. Properly rustic and local. I’ve been going here for years and it’s just a hit every time. For dessert, two things the apple tart and the lemon tart are what to go for! #notoriousfoodie 🙅🏽‍♂️

I walked into @indospicephilly thinking it was another Indian spot! Turns out, it’s Indonesian cuisine with flavor that hits just as hard.
From crispy corn fritters to spicy sambals & next level beef meatballs, this South Philly gem is putting bold Southeast Asian food on the map literally, there’s one inside with 17,000+ islands.
Spice lovers, don’t sleep on this. And yes, the happy soda helped… a lot.

Dinner back in May 2023 at Saint-Peter which was added to the 2024 World Best Restaurants list at number 98. Back then it was already a promising restaurant. Here were the highlights of my dinner:

Fish Butchery Charcuterie

Original idea to serve fish charcuterie, sadly the chorizo was the tastiest.

Southern Calamari & Berrima Octopus,Yellowfin Tuna ‘Nduja
Very creative and tasty dish.

Line Caught Mahi Mahi
Borlotti Beans, Rainbow Chard & Smoked Eel Emulsion
Best dish of the night. Nice barely seared fish. The vegetables were nicely cooked. The beurre blanc really enhanced the overall dish.

Snapper Eye Ice Cream
Rhubarb & Vanilla Macaron
Very eye catching dessert. Loved the idea and the ice cream.

If there's one thing that will always exist, it's Hyderabadis in Dallas arguing over who has the best/most authentic food in town. Luckily for me, I'm not Hyderabadi which means I was excited to try more food from a restaurant I already liked.

The biggest new addition to their menu has to be their Mandi, a dish I've had more from the western side of Asia but was open to trying under new management. What I noticed is you get a lot more flavors in this dish. Read that again if you didn't get it, but let's talk about it.

For the mutton (my favorite) they give you broth and a tomato sauce which you can have separate, together, or not at all - although I recommend the broth alone. It makes for a meal you can keep eating without getting tired of each new bite.

As for the chicken, I was surprised to see them serve it with a garlicky mayo which not only adds moistness to the bite, but also gives a place for the Mandi sauce to emulsify; I do recommend mixing sauces here by the way.

Add that to their usual satisfying menu including my reigning favorite Hyderabadi Haleem, and you're already winning before you start talking about their new wraps. I tried the Chicken 65 version which was good on flavor but felt like it needed something more to be filling.

Especially nice to see is their dessert menu, which strays from the typical reheated galub jamun and kheer and instead offers things like a fruity trifle and apricot parfait which even as a not particularly sweet tooth I can enjoy.

All in all, I would say this menu renovation was a success and if you weren't as big of a fan of them previously, it might be time to come around and join all their new customers. Enjoy!
