Kizzo JUST OPENED in the former StepChld space in the heart of Northeast, Mpls! The official Grand opening was this past weekend 9/13/25 at 10am for brunch. They serve brunch on the weekends 10-2, they’re open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 5pm for dinner service! Their In-house made Cinnamon Rolls @roll.ritual with rotating flavors weekly are some of the BEST I’ve ever had & they are only available right now Saturday/Sunday for brunch 10am-2p! The space formerly known as StepChld is now Kizzo, a nod to owner Kamal Mohamed’s childhood nickname. The restaurant will retain some echoes of Stepchld, but in a more casual, counter-service environment that doubles as a sports bar on big game days. The hope is to create a neighborhood-friendly space that falls somewhere in between hole-in-the-wall dives and high-end eateries. I look forward to checking out their dinner and trying more cocktails! 🤭🌈🍩👯‍♀️

With @marriottbonvoy serving up a range of set menus priced at $48 nett and $88 nett throughout the month of September as part of their Eat Out campaign, I couldn’t resist the chance to go back for more.

I was craving a bit of steak, so I headed to @skirt.sg steakhouse at @WSingapore - Sentosa Cove for dinner to enjoy their $88 nett prix fixe menu and i was not disappointed.

With the choice of beef tartare or salt baked beetroot as a starter, dry aged duck or Japanese Picanha steak for mains, and either the smoked cheesecake with roasted pineapple or yuzu and lime creme brulee for dessert, I had a hard time choosing.

【ぶつをのうどん】
香川素材で組み立てる宇都宮うどん

2008年創業。宇都宮市役所のすぐ近くに構える『ぶつをのうどん』は、香川県から取り寄せた粉と醤油を使い、手打ちの讃岐うどんを提供している。店名の「ぶつを」は店主のあだ名から。日曜ともなれば開店前から行列ができる人気ぶりで、地元客に根づいた一軒だ。

最初に出されたのは、お通しの「豆腐の浅漬け添え」。しっかり冷えた豆腐の上に、細かく刻んだ大根や人参の浅漬けがのる。ほんのりとした酸味と塩気が絶妙で、食事の導入としての役割をきっちり果たしている。単なる箸休め以上に、店の“丁寧さ”を感じる一皿だった。

主役は「温玉ぶっかけ（冷）」と揚げ物の2種。まず麺は、いわゆる讃岐の“喉越し”タイプではない。太く、ごつごつとした存在感で、噛み締めてこそ旨さが立ち上がる構成。その強靭なコシは、讃岐というよりもむしろ“ぶつをのうどん”という独自ジャンルとして受け止めた方が納得できるかもしれない。

ぶっかけ出汁は色白で、いりこや鰹節の風味が効いている……はずなのだが、温玉が全体に絡む構成ゆえか、香りや輪郭はぼやけてしまった印象。出汁単体で味わえばもっと違ったかもしれない。卵と合わせて食べることでの一体感はあるが、素材の主張が少し控えめに感じられた。

揚げ物の完成度は申し分ない。とり天は軽やかな衣に包まれたジューシーな鶏肉が好印象。大ぶりながらも油っこさはなく、噛むほどに旨味が出てくる。かき揚げは玉ねぎが主役で、香りの立ち方がとても良い。甘み、揚げ加減、厚みのバランスもよく、単体でも成立する仕上がりだった。

最後には、小さなコーヒーゼリーが一口。控えめな甘さのミルクソースと苦味の効いたゼリーのバランスが良く、スッと口に入っていく。重くなりすぎず、余韻をすっと締めてくれるポジションとして機能していた。

全体を通して、主張しすぎず、かといって平板ではない。うどん、出汁、揚げ物、それぞれがしっかり整えられ、自然な構成で一食を組み立てている。日曜の昼にこの行列ができる理由も、食べ終わる頃にはきちんと理解できた。
