Yuston’s is back at @trexhouston for a limited-time pop-up (April 2–6), paying homage to Chef Justin Yu’s favorite restaurant, @houstonsrestaurants, with all the classics reimagined with his touch.

Last night was spent enjoying:

Every dish hit the mark. The French Dip with soft, pillowy bread, Wagyu seared just right, and smoked salmon brightened by yuzu tartar, all thoughtfully balanced. Both the dip and dessert were memorable highlights. From first bite to last, the meal was playful, nostalgic, and flawlessly executed.

Chili crisp egg avocado toast on @yeastco sourdough country bread 🥑🍳🌶️🍞✨

Picked up this sourdough from @yeastco and turned it into one of my fav toasts, but also ate about a quarter of the loaf on its own because it’s that good.

What you need: Sourdough bread from YeastCo, 1 avocado, 1 egg, chili crisp (found in the international/Asian aisle of most grocery stores), red pepper flakes, butter, lemon

Some places just hit you differently… not because they try too hard, but because everything feels intentional.

Marietta Proper sits right in the heart of historic downtown, and from the first sip to the last bite, it just flows. The espresso martini flight set the tone—playful, elevated, and done right. That blueberry + rum combination? Still on my mind.

But what stayed with me even more was the food. The French dip with those mushroom truffle fries… one of those dishes you keep going back to without even thinking. And the shrimp and grits? That wasn’t just a plate—it felt like passion translated into flavor.

Didn’t make it into the speakeasy this time… but honestly, that just gives me a reason to come back.

I’ve known Chef @yuushimano for a long time now, going back to my early days on here, and it’s been incredible watching what he’s built with @restaurant_yuunyc.

If you’ve been wanting to experience his cooking, they’re now offering a Wine Bar Short Course Menu ($65 per person). A focused, well-paced menu that gives you a real look into his style, from the duck and foie gras croquette to the lamb chops, with the option to add dessert at the end. A beautiful entry point into what this kitchen is doing.

They’re also doing something new with the Restaurant Yuu Luxury Box Set that feeds two people ($78), available for Saturday pickup only. It’s a compact version of the restaurant, with uni chawanmushi, wagyu takikomi rice, and foie gras terrine, all packed to go. It still feels like a complete experience, just in a different format.

An omakase at @kiwami.nyc is always a treat, especially at the end of a long day. This thoughtfully crafted meal starts with a number of small plates, including an Uni Tempura with sweet potato, Ankimo, and Unagi. The nigiri follows, and we loved the Tuna (Otoro and Akami), King Salmon, and Uni - and finishes with the classic hand roll and a Hojicha Crème Brûlée. It’s a transportive experience in a calming ambiance, right next to the Brooklyn waterfront!

Still dreaming about the new lunch menu at @gui.steakhouse! Offered during on weekdays and weekend, guests get a choice of a 3-course prix fixe for under $50 as well as a selection of Sotbaps and Banchan. The signature steak and burger are available then, and we loved digging into the Galbi Sotbap with crispy rice!

I’ve long loved the slices at @unregularpizza and years later, they’re just as good as when they first opened! Offering a tempting selection of Roman-style pizzas and flavors, you’ll have a hard time picking what to try! We loved the crisp, layered, and flaky crust and the Burracafonata with burrata, pepperoni, and spicy honey will always be a favorite. Definitely recommend trying the Burrazucchine & Burraprosciutto slices as well! 🍕

At the end of a long week, @carversteaknyc was just want we needed! This sultry Midtown steakhouse offers a full menu of tempting bites, and definitely excels when it comes to the steak. We loved the Burger & Dry-Aged Steak, and definitely don’t miss the Lemon Tart for dessert!
