After completing the Camino de Santiago de Compostela I was craving a nice meal and somewhere pleasant to celebrate and Casa Marcelo (the only michelin star restaurant in Santiago de Compostela) certainly hit the spot. A busy bustling restaurant with an open kitchen I sat at the kitchen counter. There is a single large communal table in the main restaurant seating maybe 30 people. The food I would describe as local ingredients cooked in an Asian style. Although I hate the word fusion, this is definitely an accurate description here. Bacalao dim sum for example.
The pictures here are from two visits on consecutive days as I was dining alone and wanted to try as much of the tapas style menu as possible. They were happy to give me half portions of each dish that the chefs chose for me. Very good value with both meals coming in at under €47 with beer.
The prices quoted on each dish are for a full portion, the photos are of my half portions. Less

Funny story on the side:
We went there during one of the very rare snow storms in Tokyo. So as it is custom in Japan, when one of the customers leaves one of the Chefs has to stand outside the restaurant bowing until this customer dispapears out of sight. Now as most of the customers turned right towards the train station the poor young man who had this tasks of standing outside assigned to him had to face the entire evening the driving wind and snow bowing to his leaving customers. We really felt for this poor chap. Less

I might have rated this meal higher if the price wasn't so steep, but this dinner gave me sticker shock since perception of value is part of the experience. The non-alcoholic drinks come out to about $23 per glass and I don't naturally consume 6 drinks at any meal. It appears the Temperance price has gone down to $105 since my visit, but the total price for this truly lovely cooking and incredible service has never left my mind.
Chef: Ronny Emborg
Menu: $275 (tip included, not tax)
Non-alcohol pairings: $142 (tip included, not tax)
Total Paid: $454
