Brunch at Winnie’s 🍳🍹

Winnie’s recently launched a weekend brunch, and we tried it last weekend! It’s really family-friendly during the day so we brought the kids.

What we got: the Biscoff Croissant Cinnamon Roll, Crawfish Pimento Queso, Fried Shrimp Deviled Eggs, Chicken Wings, Perfect Peacemaker Po-Boy, Winn-A-Burger, Pecan Praline Chicken & Waffles, and Catfish & Grits. And their famous Warm Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies to go. For drinks, we tried the Cherry Limeade and Key Lime Pie cocktails, both made virgin for us. Everything was fantastic.

One tip: get there early! We arrived just a couple minutes before 11 AM and there were already two tables filled.

The food was excellent, and the service and atmosphere were great too. Definitely a fun one for a weekend brunch with friends or family. There was a DJ setting up as we were finishing our meal.

10/10 date night. Been a min since we’ve been back. Loved it then and still love it now. We ordered the masa cornbread à la carte from their tasting menu, and it’s still just as amazing as the first time we had it last year. Thank you to our server, Jenny, for taking great care of us and for the best service!

A little slice of Paris just arrived in Downtown Houston. 🇫🇷✨

I stopped by the grand opening of Petite Lucie yesterday, and it was such a fun evening! The Bastille Day celebration brought together live entertainment, a ribbon cutting, and even a FIFA watch party in Market Square Park.

The celebration had a really fun, lively vibe; it felt like a little escape to a Parisian café right in the heart of downtown Houston.

Congratulations to the Petite Lucie team on a wonderful grand opening! Excited to come back and try more of the menu!

Date night at @junhtx

We had dinner at JŪN last weekend, and we’re already talking about what we’ll order next time. Great food, a cozy atmosphere, and beautifully presented dishes. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, and we genuinely loved everything we tried. This is one of those places we’ll be coming back to again and again.

Well deserved: Chefs Evelyn Garcia and Henry Lu recently won the 2026 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Texas!

NEW in Houston — PopUp Bagels has officially arrived in Houston with its first local location in Town & Country Village, bringing its viral East Coast bagel concept to the city. Known for serving hot, unsliced bagels with its signature “Grip, Rip, and Dip” experience, the shop pairs freshly baked bagels with house-made schmears for a simple but memorable take on the classic bagel. I tried going the first week after they opened on a Wednesday afternoon, but the line was wrapped around the building. I went back the next week on a Thursday morning and there wasn’t a line at all. If you want to play it safe and avoid waiting, I’d recommend ordering online ahead of time.

Incredible meal at Jungsik. Each dish was so creative, with thoughtful layers of flavor throughout. Three Michelin stars and ranked no.18 on North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, which makes total sense after our visit.

We reserved seats at the bar so we could order à la carte, which ended up being a really fun way to try some of their signature dishes. But in retrospect, for a first visit I think I would have loved experiencing the dining room and doing the full tasting menu. The bar feels more like the ideal second visit once you already know your favorites and want to come back for specific dishes.

Still one of my favorite meals I’ve ever had in NYC.

Kids eat FREE all day every Monday this summer at the Houston Heights and Kirby locations with the purchase of an adult entrée (dine-in only)!

Also check out some of their new drinks and desserts. The Coconut Matcha Limeade was so good, and I also loved the Frozen Pink Lemonade. We finished with their classic chocolate chip cookie and their new cheesecake (five spice crumble and yuzu marmalade).

The Lil’ Loro Menu includes kid favorites like the Loro Cheeseburger and Crispy Chicken Bites (their karaage without the spices), plus a side and drink for kids 12 and under ($9.95 on non-Mondays). Such a fun and easy spot for summer family dinners!
