The biggest crawfish are selects, but at Jo Mama’s in Abbeville, Luke Schultz calls them hammers, because that’s how big they feel.

He showed us around his drive-thru stand and also brought us out to to watch the harvest on ponds his family has been working for generations. They get sorted by size back at the farm and distributed from there.

I like big mudbugs, and I’ve long understood that for the biggest one must go close to the source.

This inspired a crawfish safari in Cajun country with photographer @davidgrunfeld for @nolanews , a road trip that took us from pond to plate.

I convinced my editors to let me do a Brooklyn taco crawl, and they put it on the cover!

I’m so proud of this one, as you can see I’m going back to my roots and writing about tacos. For a little while, I felt like I was back in Tucson again, except for the fact that it was like 25 degrees outside at the time, which made it slightly challenging to spend seven hours walking around Greenpoint and eating tacos.

This article came out while I was on vacation and I’m just now posting about it, but just look at this fabulous plate of pork bossam. Some of the pieces were so fatty, I felt absurd eating them. It’s like straight pork fat. But I took most of it home and even used some of the fatty bits to cook sweet potatoes.

The sisters Castro of @acamayanola opened @casimironola this week as a breakfast and lunch cafe just a block from their first restaurant.

It has a retro Mexican diner look, an easy feel and flavors tied to their roots in Mexico City.

There are plenty of surprises and new flavors to discover on a menu with a high comfort food quotient.

We finally found a restaurant that we can go back to because it was that goood 🤤
Their lahori fish is crispy and seasoned to perfection and have a hugggge selection of karahi.

They have here a dozen locations in Canada and opened one in htown last year. This DFW location is brand new and is in its soft opening phase so check them out 🚨‼️
