Every dish was spot on at Verjus: tomato salad, pate, omelet, salad, duck confit and dessert. I can’t wait to go back!
The chicken Kiev at Dingles Public House transported me back to the 1970s when I was a very young Cook and prepared this dish for many family dinners. Of course this upscale pub offers much more including excellent sausage rolls, hamburger and fries and mushroom pot pie.
The Vernal menu. Always a joy to dine here regardless of the season, or the reason 💚

Visiting @bar1865nola , you arrive at a historic townhouse in downtown New Orleans that reveals an enchanting anachronism — a den of Old World elegance serving food and cocktails with a fresh, modern verve.

A @commanderspalace dessert storm was not in the forecast, but occurred anyway.
And how about dragging some table bread through the pepper jelly sauce on the second order of shrimp Henican?
Also, new on the cocktail list, that’s a La-Ti-Da, essentially a tequila martini with onion brine.
Sazerac for scale.
More to come on this but … given how fast the specials change at @porgysnola , I wouldn’t want to miss these betel leaf-wrapped royal red shrimp, nor the crab and peach salad and that fat softie po-boy with banh mi dressing is no slouch either.
Seriously satisfying summer lunch.
