The Asian-flavored sauce added a delightful accent. The lobster's claws were served separately with a rich egg yolk sauce. However, due to the summer heat, I found myself feeling quite full... The meat was incredibly luxurious, with a beautiful marbling, and the aroma of the coffee butter sauce was rich! Yet, my stomach... This was the first time I felt completely full after a French course meal, which shocked me—maybe it’s my age.Despite the wonderful dishes prepared for me, the staff quickly noticed my condition and kindly advised me not to push myself.I was looking forward to the cheese before dessert, but I decided to skip it and go straight to dessert. The peach dessert was gentle and delightful.Since I was too full for the petit fours, I was kindly allowed to take home the ones selected for me.I chose this restaurant to express my gratitude to my mother, who was visiting from Osaka for my birthday. She was also very satisfied with the warm hospitality and the beautifully artistic flavors, and we celebrated my birthday together, making it a truly wonderful time.I am sincerely grateful and hope to visit again when I’m not suffering from summer fatigue (*´˘`*)♡ Less

Roasted peach wrapped in green tea jelly 【Mignardises】This was the overall structure of the meal. For wine, I had glasses of: Perrier Rosé Condrieu Trimbach Riesling Clos Sainte Hune Puligny-Montrachet Opus One Château Giraud paired with the meal. My companion had non-alcoholic beverages. From the amuse-bouche to the butter and salt for the bread, the cuisine was not overly extravagant but had a solid core, while still showcasing creativity. It was truly delicious.Overall, it felt like a reassuring place to dine. Less
It's been a few months since my last visit, and I still believe this is my favorite French restaurant. The menu doesn't change frequently, but the high quality of the dishes makes that less of a concern. I also look forward to the occasional changes in the wine list for the glass wines. This time, I had the pigeon as my main dish. It was slightly different from what I expected in terms of the cut, so I deducted points for that. However, everything from the finger foods to the dessert was delicious,... More

I visited a very high-end restaurant for the first time in my life. After checking the dress code and etiquette, I was ready for the experience.I chose the most expensive course and made some changes, including caviar. Most of the other guests were couples, and we were the only group of women. It seemed like many people were celebrating special occasions, and I felt it might have been a bit too early for us.While the service was extremely attentive, the terminology used was quite complex, and the atmosphere... I enjoyed the "Dequvert" lunch course at La Baie, located within The Ritz-Carlton Osaka, paired with wine and champagne. We started with a welcome amuse-bouche featuring three items: "Botan Shrimp Tartare," "Comté Cheese and Onion Mousse," and "Silk Salmon." We savored them in the recommended order from right to left, and with each bite, the high level of craftsmanship became evident, raising my expectations for the course.Next, the amuse-bouche of "Marinated Scallops with Seaweed Jelly, Coral Powder, and Horseradish Cream" was a remarkable dish where the rich, smooth cream harmonized beautifully with the delicate sweetness of the scallops, leaving a lasting impression. The appetizer, Kin-Kin fish, was marinated with fleur de sel and lightly grilled over charcoal, enhancing the savory flavor of the fat with a delightful aroma. The combination with celery jelly, root celery cream, and tomato vinaigrette was superb, allowing me to enjoy every last bite. The butter confit white asparagus had a gentle texture reminiscent of a Western-style chawanmushi (savory egg custard). The consomme flavored with Vin Jaune showcased the umami of the sea bream, pairing excellently with the thinly sliced abalone. This dish was a memorable fusion of Japanese and French cuisine. For the main course, I opted for the roasted Wagyu beef for an additional charge. The cooking was impeccable, with the moist meat beautifully complemented by the red wine sauce. Additionally, pairing it with carrot puree and black garlic paste added depth to the flavors, allowing me to enjoy various nuances within a single dish. The dessert was elevated as well, featuring a crepe Suzette prepared right in front of me. The live flambé experience was thrilling, and the staff provided detailed explanations throughout the process, making it visually enjoyable until the end. The petit four cart that followed was also impressive. Although I wanted to try everything, I could only manage three varieties due to being full. Nevertheless, the quality remained uncompromised until the very end.Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was also top-notch. The explanations of the dishes and wine, as well as the timing of inquiries about my impressions and attention to the air conditioning, were all natural and comfortable, showcasing a level of hospitality that truly impressed me.The restaurant is enveloped in a classical and elegant atmosphere, providing a special experience. I learned that the lighting is dimmed in the evening, creating an even more serene environment, so I definitely want to visit for dinner next time. While the price is not casual, it is undoubtedly worth it, making me think, "I want to come back soon." The entire experience—food, wine, service, and ambiance—exceeded my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment for special occasions or for anyone wanting to savor authentic French cuisine. Less
I absolutely love La Baie! I enjoyed a leisurely lunch while savoring the pairings. The chef frequently came to check on the guests. Everything was delicious! The service was truly attentive, and this place never fails to meet my expectations, no matter when I visit!
This was my first stay at the Ritz in Osaka, and it was also my first time dining at this restaurant. Although the building is a bit old, the interior design reminiscent of France was truly lovely. The staff were very pleasant as well. The dishes were quite cute, and I think women would really enjoy them! The presentation was adorable, and I was very satisfied!

I visited "La Baie," the main dining restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Osaka in Umeda, Osaka. I visited "La Baie," the main dining restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Osaka in Umeda, Osaka. This establishment has maintained its Michelin star for many years and is one of the premier grand maisons in Kansai. Since 2006, it has been led by Chef Christophe Gibert from Brittany, France. Even as the concept of restaurants evolves over time, this place cherishes the traditions and elegance that French cuisine has built over the years. They deliver this value not just through the food, but as a complete experience that includes service and presentation. The ambiance of the restaurant is also part of its charm. Surrounded by heavy furnishings, antiques, and soft lighting, the interior exudes a sense of elegance reminiscent of the 18th century. The overall theme of "the harmony between 18th-century elegance and Osaka's food culture" resonates throughout the hotel, with the food, service, and presentation all designed to create a cohesive experience.I had the "Classique" menu, but I added a "Caviar Set" at the beginning and truffles to the "Roasted Yamato Duck." As I layered these indulgent options onto the classic course, the price quickly escalated. The wine selection was equally impressive, with a robust bottle list and a beautiful lineup of glass wines. What started as a light drink pairing turned into another temptation. The allure of a grand maison is indeed formidable. We began with three amuse-bouches. The "Botan Shrimp Tartare" was refreshing with basil cream. The "Comté Cheese and Onion Mousse" was complemented by the savory aroma of cheese sablé. The "Silk Salmon" was enhanced with sansho pepper, dill, and trout roe, all of which elegantly prepared the palate for the meal ahead. The standout was the added "Beluga Caviar" set. It allowed us to enjoy the ingredient from various angles—squeezing lemon, pairing with condiments, and savoring it with toast. Rather than flaunting luxury, the presentation aimed to maximize the ingredient's appeal, which is characteristic of this restaurant. The "Fermented Butter" served with bread also had a special touch. The dramatic presentation of cutting from a large block right in front of us elevated the experience. One was seasoned with pepper and salt, while the other was infused with seaweed. The richness of the butter combined with the spice of pepper and the fresh scent of the ocean made it impossible not to ask for a second helping of bread. The "Confit of Sweet Shrimp" was a dish featuring shrimp broth jelly, ginger cream, and citrus. It layered the sweetness of the shrimp with the umami of shellfish, finishing with ginger and citrus for a balanced aftertaste. It played a role in the course without becoming too heavy. The "Steamed Abalone with White Wine" incorporated a stuffed rockfish and artichoke. The dish was classically French, with layers of flavors from liver chips, truffle aroma, broth, and béarnaise sauce. The main course was the "Roasted Yamato Duck." I decided to add truffles for good measure. It was served with a sauce made from foie gras, lentil stew, and yellow cauliflower—a classic preparation that allowed the duck's rich flavor to shine. For dessert, we enjoyed cheeses like "Bleu d'Auvergne," "Comté," and "Munster." The cheese cart, which is becoming less common, was still present, allowing us to experience the culinary culture that French cuisine has nurtured. We concluded with "Crêpes Suzette," prepared tableside with a flambé of Grand Marnier. The rising aroma, the excitement of watching it come together right in front of us, and the bliss of tasting it created a restaurant experience that transcended mere flavor. The allure of "La Baie" lies not just in the surprise of individual dishes, but in the overall synergy of space, service, and presentation. The sequence of the cheese cart, the flames rising, and the accompanying wine preserves the now-rare culture of grand maisons. The dishes were consistently solid, offering a comforting experience rather than leaving a strong aftertaste. This restaurant allows you to enjoy the world of classic French cuisine in a hotel dining setting. It was a great meal. Less
