The first time I went to Maria Isabel, I ordered the tasting menu and vowed I would come back for the à la carte menu I’m glad I did! Laura Ozyilmaz puts her spin on many dishes including guacamole with caviar, asparagus salad, crab sandwich in a chile arbol sauce, chicken Milanesa, duck enchiladas with mole, and desserts that include a masa waffle taco with corn ice cream. Heart & head & great bread at @the_palmerston in Edinburgh

A former bank is now a den of modern Scottish cuisine.

For lunch: Grilled ox heart with lentils and fried pig head (bit of all the good meat made into crispy cakes).

Fantastic house bread and a champagne-esque @naughtonciderco Overture cider.

Later, up the hill to Old Town for subterranean pints at the Jolly Judge where the busking pipers were on break.
